As a Regional Coordination Committee Representative & Routing Optimisation Manager you will be responsible for driving cross functional thinking and collaboration across the Africa Operations Team thereby ensuring the execution of efficient and effective operations at the lowest possible cost.
We offer
You will have a truly cross functional role where you would need to work closely with all execution teams in the LOC as well as with key stakeholders in Copenhagen.
You will interact and negotiate with VSA partners at different levels. You will be responsible for driving service delivery and cost optimisation in collaboration with commercial and operational teams.
You will have the opportunity to understand, work with, and improve the most dynamic network in Maersk. Exposure to numerous cultures and stakeholders across the African continent, as well as globally, on a daily basis at varying levels from Supervisor to CEO.
Key responsibilities
– Focal point in the LOC to coordinate internally and communicate with VSA partners on any non-standard executional issues requiring application of the JWP.
– First level escalation in the LOC for operational contingencies in AFR VSAs.
– Manage operational integrity of the VSA network both within and between the Regions through correct application of JWP in combination with Standard Contingencies.
– Take the lead for Maersk in drafting and optimizing the VSA Standard Contingencies for the Region, coordinating internally with Capacity- and UTM-desks.
– Contribute to seasonal contingency development.
– For operational contingencies not covered by the Working Procedures or Standard Contingencies, coordinate internally with relevant stakeholders to present an operational solution in the spirit of the VSAs while ensuring best possible outcome for Maersk.
– Maintain close liaison with relevant Maersk internal stakeholders.
– Ensure JWP & VSA network angle is considered during decision making process.
– Review transhipment patterns from E2E product optimization perspective.
– Work with procurement team and, together with LOC execution functions, optimise routings based on local volume drives.
– Be responsible for hub routing creation/maintenance/expiry in region.
– Detect and correct abnormal/missing routings in MEPC.
– Analyze and correct MEPC cost updates for hub routings.
– Work closely with Network, and be responsible for periodic NET review in region.
– Review special routing applications from regional perspective.
– Work with the global MEPC teams and Inland teams to ensure E2E products are in place.
– Work closely with similar roles in other LOCs, and be part of the global MEPC community.
We are looking for
– A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
– 10 years relevant experience in container shipping.
– 3-5 years in a middle management Capacity and/or Marine role preferred.
– Proven stakeholder management skills and political acumen.
– Strong personality with natural gravitas.
– Strong coordinating skills.
– Ability to multi-task and deal with complexities.
– Attention to detail and highly organized, process-focused aptitude.
– One team mindset, across disciplines and departments.
– Ability to impact business activities and influence leaders and peers.
– Cross cultural awareness.
– Previous knowledge of vessel operations, capacity management.
– Previous knowledge of container operations on ship and/or shore.
– Thorough understanding of process/system landscape including MEPC expertise.
– Be a self-starter with a drive for results.
– Operate with a sense of urgency.
– Have strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
– Work well in a high pressure and fast paced environment.
– Ability to make decisions under pressure.
