Project description
GFA Consulting Group in consortium with DNA Economics, Eurochambres and ECDPM has been mandated by the European Union to implement the EU-South Africa Partners for Growth Programme. Its main objective is to maximise bilateral trade and investment flows between the European Union and South Africa through (1) the enhancement of business opportunities (2) the elimination of market access barriers and (3) the improvement of the business climate for EU investors. Specifically, the project aims at strengthening the capacity of the EU and EU business to influence policy processes in South Africa and to develop high visibility of the actions of the EU vis-à-vis SA government, business, civil society and the media.
Job description
The Communication Expert will be responsible for all communication-related aspects of the project. The project communication plan includes the following deliverables:
Creation and operation of effective networking tools, such as an interactive web platform linked to social media.
Developing and processing content from studies, workshops and events, putting it into appropriate formats and disseminating it to stakeholders thereby enhancing the voice and presence of EU business through various channels.
Carrying out media campaign work, including journalist briefings, trainings and accompanying technical missions.
Planning and managing of events (e.g. mobilisation of participants/speakers as well as pre-/post event media work).
The Communications Specialist will report to the Project Director, work with non-key sector specialists, always in close cooperation with the EU Delegation in Pretoria.
Qualifications
The candidate should possess the following competencies and qualifications:
10 years work experience in Communications/Public Relations and/or Advocacy in the private sector and/or in a think tank or civil society institution in South Africa.
Affinity to international business and economic policy issues in South Africa.
Outstanding writing skills, i.e. the ability to translate complex economic policy language into clear-cut messages tailored to various stakeholders.
Strategic mindset coupled with drive to deliver quality results, often at tight deadlines.
First degree in a relevant field, such as PR/Communications is required. A second degree in economics, business or finance would be an added value.
