Job Description:

Various Unit manager positions have become available with a company in the Medical field. These roles are in various departments; Theatre, Day ward, Peadiatric & Maternity. These roles will be based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

Manage the staff requirements of the Units

Conduct orientation and train new staff

Evaluate staff performance

Manage nursing standards and in-service training

Maintain a professional image and character

Disposition towards quality and excellent patient care

Enforce health and safety regulations

Accurate record keeping and management of stock

Management of staff within the Company’s IR policies, Basic Conditions of Employment and the Disciplinary Code

Ensure adherence to policies and procedures at all times

Management of staffing in accordance with the company policies

Manage the day to day problem solving, including stock control

Conduct regular Quality focus rounds

Maintain infection control strategies and procedures of the hospital

Maintain health and safety principles

Focus on Quality Care

Evaluation, intervention and resolution of patient complaints and queries

Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports

Manage ad hoc projects as and when required

Hospital Call

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse

At least two – five years’ relevant experience in a relevant role.

Post Basic Qualification essential

Management experience would be advantageous

Excellent Leadership qualities and mentoring skills

Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and problem-solving skills

The skill to manage nursing standards and in-service training

Maintain a professional image and character

Accurate administration skills

Commitment to initiate and implement continuous improvement projects

Excellent MS Office computer skills, i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Critical and analytical thinking
