Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Mine Overseer to manage and oversee multiple aspects of an underground coal mine site.

Responsibilities:

Manage, lead and motivate team to safely achieve targets

Ensure conformance with mine safety standards

Ensure legal compliance

Resource planning

Managing contractors

Cost control

Building strong relationships with key stakeholders including: Health & Safety Department, Shift Bosses, TMM Engineer, Shaft Engineer, Section Manager, Mining Manager, other Mine Overseers, Technical Service Functions (Mine Planning, Rock Engineering, Geology, Drill & Blast) and HR Business Partner

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

Grade 12

Mine Overseer Certificate of Competence for Mine Underground Coal

Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competence highly advantageous

10 years U/G mining experience or a degree in mining engineering plus a minimum of 6 years’ U/G mining experience

Must have Coal Mining Experience

Strong experience with Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) or Vertical shaft operations

Thorough knowledge of MS Office

Strong leadership and management capabilities
