Job Description:
A mining client has a vacancy for an IT Infrastructure Manager to join their senior management team and report directly in to the CIO. The individual will be responsible for all IT Infrastructure within the company, with close working relationships to Business Systems,
Cyber Security systems, IT Governance, and IT Project Management and Delivery.
Responsibilities:
Effectively manage the IT Infrastructure Department using leadership abilities to coach employees, and outsource business partners, communicate organization and job expectations and manage their performance.
Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures.
Specific focus for the role will be on ensuring infrastructure is maintained at a high standard, ensuring adherence to governance and compliance.
Management of Technical Staff and external outsourced service provider.
Drive Infrastructure Department manpower headcount & cost, as well as providing inputs to department budgets, ensuring efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
At least 10 years’ experience across the full IT infrastructure stack
Has a broad and deep IT infrastructure knowledge with specific preference of managing an Infrastructure department in a mining environment, coupled with equivalent knowledge of the activities of the mining business and value chain, to exploit IT enablement that will benefit the business.
An understanding of Digitalization in mining, as close working relationship between IT and Digital Departments is a key requirement to ensure appropriate support for Digitalization initiatives by the IT department.
Strong awareness of IT standards, Governance frameworks and legislation, and understanding how these are relevant to the Group in South Africa, Namibia and the rest of the world, to ensure Group compliance.
Deep understanding of IT infrastructure and how it applies to mining as a business, with a key focus on supporting digitalization initiatives in the mining space.
Very strong Infrastructure background (LANs, WANs, Servers, Storage, Virtualization, and Wi Fi systems (Pit and underground))
