Job Description:

A leading mining client of ours has a vacancy for a Chief Information Officer. The individual will be responsible for all IT

systems within the company, including Infrastructure, Business Systems, Cyber Security systems, IT Governance, and IT Project Management and Delivery. The incumbent will be a key member of their international management team and report directly in to the CFO.

Responsibilities:

Channel and bring energy and a fresh perspective towards designing and creating a competent, empowered and motivated IT organization which is geared up for achieving unparalleled growth

Effectively manage the IT Department using leadership abilities to coach employees, communicate organization and job expectations to employees and manage their performance.

Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures.

Specific focus will be on ensuring governance and compliance, as well as Cybersecurity systems are deployed and maintained at a high standard.

Management of Technical Staff and external outsourced service provider.

Drive all aspects of the usage of technology & digitalisation in the Group.

Drive overall manpower headcount & cost, as well as Department budgets, ensuring Efficient and cost-effective service delivery.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

A passionate leader with at least 10 years’ experience across the full IT stack

Has a broad and deep IT knowledge coupled with equivalent knowledge of the activities of the mining business to exploit IT enablement that will benefit the business.

Strong awareness of IT standards, Governance frameworks and legislation, and understanding how these are relevant to the Group in South Africa, Namibia and the rest of the world, to ensure Group compliance.

SAP knowledge to the extent of ensuring optimal utilization and effectiveness of the SAP modules deployed in the Group.

Strong Infrastructure background (LANs, WANs, Servers, Storage, Virtualization, and Wi Fi systems (Pit and underground))

A deep understanding of Digitalization in mining, as close working relationship between IT and Digital Departments is a key requirement to ensure appropriate support for Digitalization initiatives by the IT department.

Deep understanding of IT industry and implications of existing and emerging technologies for the wider mining business environment, with a key focus on systems integration and automation
