Malawi Ministry of Health has opted to offer integrated health services at community level countrywide gradually. Ministry of Health with support from UNICEF has planned to implement integrated community health package in two districts in 2019-2020. The proposed integrated community health model will contribute to the SDG, MGD, HSSP-II and Operational Plan of National Community Health Strategy (NCHS). The stipulated package of integrated community health services is part of Essential Health Package (EHP) including community essential health package (c-EHP). Further, it will support operationalization and gradual scale up of integrated community health delivery model in communities, especially underprivileged areas stipulated in the National Community Health Strategy. The strategic objectives of Integrated Community Health Interventions for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health in targeted districts are designed to contribute to the following results as articulated under Goal 1 of UNICEF Health strategic plan 2018-2021.
How can you make a difference?
Under the supervision of the Community Health Specialist, the work assignment for the Consultant will be:
Technical assistance to Community Health Services Section (CHSS) of the Ministry of Health and District Councils to establish the leadership and coordination mechanism in planning, implementation and monitoring of integrated community health package.
The specific tasks are outlined below:
Desk review and field assessment on leadership skill of community health team, and develop a guidelines on leadership role of community health team for integrated community health interventions.
Desk review and field assessment on coordination mechanism for proposed integrated community health interventions at district and below level. And then develop a guidelines on coordination, collaboration and management at district level for integrated health service delivery at community level.
Desk review of community engagement structures for integrated community health services. Document the best practices and human interest stories on integrated/ convergence of health of services at community level in two districts.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
University degree in public health, social science, economics or in relevant field.
A Minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national or sub-national levels and international level in maternal, child and adolescent health program.
Proven experience in leadership, management and coordination for primary health care.
Experience on district level management, coordination and leadership skill for primary health care.
Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, tools for program planning including budget planning.
Languages -Written and spoken fluency in English
