Purpose of the internship:

UNICEF field office Basra is aiming to engage young university students with its activities. The purpose of the engagement is to prepare future human resources assets in specializations of the field office work including but not limited to water, sanitation, hygiene promotion, education, health, nutrition, child protections, communications, social policy. After completing the internship period, candidates are assumed to have gained the following skills in the humanitarian and development field of work:

Under the supervision of programme officer, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

Attending meetings with governmental directorates alongside the UNICEF officers and write meetings minutes. And follow up actions points based on the programme officer’s directions and guidelines.
Under direct supervision, directions and guidance of programme officers to Conduct field assessments and data collections using tools prepared by the programme officers, data inputs excel and / or access databases on daily bases.
Under direct supervision of programme officers to conduct community group discussion and collection the voice of beneficiary about certain services to be discussed by the programme officers and delivered by both officers and field facilitators.
Participate in hygiene promotion activities, prepare activities reports and assist the programme officer in conducting KAP surveys.
Assist the programme officer in certain and limited quality assurance activities including following up the progress of implementation of project rehabilitation and report on daily bases to programme officers.

Duration: 10 weeks (tentatively from 1st of July to 30th of Aug 2019)

Location: Basra and ThiQar

Qualifications:

Be enrolled at a university in Iraq at the undergraduate or graduate level in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, environmental and chemical engineering), Social since or related field is required.
Fluency in English is required.
Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office is required.
Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures and working environments;
Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others)
