The UNICEF Internship Program in Iraq offers qualified university students a unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF’s work under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

Purpose of the internship:

Graphic design is an essential step in the production of all digital content. Nearly every printed document, report, brochure or pamphlet can be enhanced with the aid of a graphic designer especially those that include illustrations, info graphs, tables and charts.

As part of the UNICEF Iraq’s communication sections expansion in digital content production, we are looking for a fulltime in-house graphic designer intern to support on the growing needs.

Technical skills requirements:

Attractive, eye-catching and properly designed digital products depend on a variety of factors. The level of experience and familiarity with design and production software is one among many considerations. Creativity, understanding of the audience, understanding the client and complying with the general branding guidelines are all just as important.

For a candidate to be considered, he/she should be able to provide work samples demonstrating his/her highest technical skills in at least 2 of the below major fields below. With each sample, the candidate is requested to present a brief description of the campaign or product, clients requirements and his/her creative input.

1. Graphics design for printed materials: The candidate should provide at least 3 different products in PDF format, ready for printing. Each sample should include a variety of components, including but not limited to:

a. A unique/original layout (not based on a template provided by a design software).

b. Infographics including original illustrations. Illustrations that are purchased from the internet or an illustrator should be submitted.

c. Tables, charts and any other graphs provided that they are original and not based on templates provided by a design software/

d. Photos, images prepared and corrected for proper printing.

2. Motion graphic for broadcast and the web: The candidate should provide at least 2 motion graphics samples of his/her work. Motion graphics can be part of the sample provided as long as the original project files can be submitted to UNICEF for evaluation.

Duration: Three Months

Location: Erbil

The candidate will be based in Erbil field office and will be mentored by Communication Specialist. The candidate will work closely with communication team and they will gain on the job experience on all aspects on strategic communication with UNICEF. They will also have the opportunity to learn and contribute to UNICEFs mandate in improving the lives of children in Iraq.
