UNICEF Sierra Leone as the designated Grant Agent for the recently approved Global Partnership for Education, will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the $17.2 million-dollar grant in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Basic and Senior Secondary (MBSSE). In line with the Education Sector Plan 2018 – 2020 the approved programme focuses on improving access to equitable and quality education.
How can you make a difference?
Formulate, design plans, ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of programme implementation, ensure monitoring mechanisms in place to track progress of targets and ensures supplies are ordered and distributed in a timely manner.
Key expected results
Effective delivery of GPE programme
Contributes to GPE processes for improved overall programme implementation.
Participate in major evaluation exercises, programme reviews and annual sector review meetings with government counterparts
Interact with Government and other partners, NGOs, UN and bilateral agencies in the different stages of the education Programme implementation.
Promote the quality of rights-based education programming.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:
Advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Education; Primary Education, or Social Sciences fields relevant to international development assistance. Some demonstrative capacity to identify and monitor gender inequalities, as well as develop and implement gender mainstreaming in programmes.*
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience at national and international levels in fields relevant to education programmes (with a minimum of three years in an international emergency and/or early-recovery context).
Fluency in English, verbal and written.
Experience working in the UN or other international development organization an asset.
*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
