For every child, health.The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) in Zanzibar is part of the Integrated Reproductive and Child Health (IRCH) program under the directorate of preventive and health education. At the national level, the EPI programme team is composed of EPI Manager, EPI Surveillance Officer who also oversees cold chain and logistic activities, National training Officer who also oversees immunization M&E and National Vaccine Store Manager. The team provides guidance and support on the formulation of IVD national policies and guidelines at all levels. It also performs monitoring activities through supportive supervision and evaluation processes at national and district levels. At a sub-national level, Zanzibar is divided into two zones of Unguja and Pemba. Unguja zone is divided into seven (7) districts while the Pemba zone has four (4) districts. Implementation of immunization services in Pemba is coordinated and supervised by EPI Operational Officer and the Reproductive and Child Health Coordinator who are the two most responsible for immunization reporting to the officer responsible for preventive services. In a District, immunization services are coordinated and supervised by Council Health Management Teams with the most responsibility going to the District immunization and Vaccination Officer (DIVO) and the District Public Health Nursing Officer (DPHNO)

How can you make a difference?The purpose of this consultancy is to facilitate development of a policy guideline that will ensure effective and efficient implementation of the Immunization program in Zanzibar.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have¦
Advanced university degree in health, social sciences or related field. Preferably a higher degree encompassing knowledge of public health, policy, management and health system strengthening.
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in developing policy, guidelines SOPs, etc.Fluency in written and spoken English essential; knowledge of Swahili is an asset.
Strong analytical skills
Knowledge of the Zanzibar context and EPI programExcellent facilitation skills, negotiation skills and oral and written communication skills;

Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
