Location: Harare, Zimbabwe

Contract type: Fixed Term – 9 Months – Possibility for extension to 1 year
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £31,666 per annum plus per diem

About the role

British Red Cross are seeking an experienced Finance and Admin Delegate to support the management of increased funds for our international Covid-19 response. This role is to be based with our Southern Africa regional team in Harare for 9-months.
This key role will be to implement, manage and be responsible for all financial and administrative processes relating to the BRC office and programmes in Zimbabwe including ensuring compliance with BRC and donor financial policies and procedures. You will ensure that finance and administration controls are both robust and flexible enough to meet programme requirements. Develop and monitor programme budgets, ensuring donor financial reporting requirements and timelines are met. You will support internal and external audits of programmes and the BRC annual financial audit and ensure any actions and recommendations resulting from an audit are implemented.

Additionally, you will support logistics processes and compliance with Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) and BRC logistics procedures and provide co-ordinated financial support to ZRCS as required.  This role will significantly contribute to the overall achievement of the programme goals by supporting and advising senior management in all finance related activities.

About the team

Within the International Directorate of the British Red Cross, the Programmes and Partnerships Department provides oversight of our programme work and our long-term capacity building partnerships and disaster management.  The department works in partnership not only externally with other National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) but also internally within a matrix relationship of technical advisers and policy professionals in other teams.

The Finance and Admin delegate position will sit within the Southern Africa team, part of a wider East & Southern Africa team within the International Directorate of the British Red Cross. The Southern Africa team has a Regional Office based in Harare Zimbabwe.

About the person

We are looking for a qualified accountant with experience in supporting national organisations within the region to improve their financial systems, processes and capacity, with experience of risk management and developing financial systems to support international operations.

You will need to have experience of supporting the financial elements of institutional donor programmes including donor reporting and experience in supporting programme teams with budget and forecast preparation.

Additionally, we’re looking for someone who can support financial capacity building for both finance and non-finance staff.
