Short-Term Grants to Respond Quickly to CSO Challenges [Ukraine]

The Pact has launched a grant program “Join!” to raise awareness and level of participation of citizens in public activities at the national, regional and local levels.

Join the program! They will provide support to organizations and coalitions at the national, regional and local levels, including registered civil society organizations (CSOs), as well as unregistered groups and civic initiatives across the country.

The purpose of the program “Join!” is to raise awareness and level of participation of citizens in public activities at the national, regional and local levels.

The purpose of this competition is to meet the urgent organizational, operational and programmatic needs of civil society organizations to ensure their survival, resilience and adaptation in an unprecedentedly horrific environment, to be able to regroup, reset and continue their efforts to engage and assist Ukrainian citizens in their humanitarian support.

Effective development of civil society, locally and national governance, the fight against corruption and accountability, the rule of law, the electoral process, inclusive development, the rights of persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people (LGBTI) and others vulnerable groups, European integration and other needs that have arisen as a result of Russia’s aggression and are important to citizens and CSOs.

Thematic Priorities

Institutional support for organizations and coalitions at the national and regional levels:

Ensuring organizational sustainability, which includes, inter alia, the maintenance of staff, office space, equipment; relocation / relocation of offices, communication, and implementation of IT security measures.
Ensuring organizational development, which includes, among other things, strategic planning, development of new organizational units, involvement of volunteers.
Ensuring organizational expertise, including, inter alia, the acquisition of new skills and competencies by staff, such as civil defence, humanitarian aid (distribution of goods), documentation of human rights violations, environmental risk assessment, media work, communication skills, skills development and knowledge of civic education to support citizens with factual information.
Providing organizational governance that will help adapt to new conditions, including, inter alia, the introduction of an alternative organizational structure, adjustment of internal policies, formation of new networks and partnerships both domestically and internationally, development of postwar reconstruction plans.
Effective citizen engagement, including, inter alia, researching and responding to their needs, advocating for citizens’ initiatives, receiving feedback and ensuring oversight by direct beneficiaries.
Project support for organizations, networks and coalitions at the national and regional level, aimed at implementing the following measures:

Study the immediate needs of citizens, manage and coordinate assistance with existing domestic and/or international assistance centers, including support centers for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Support for activists and vulnerable groups, including in hard-to-reach areas, such as the temporarily occupied territories (except the territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and territories not controlled by Ukraine as of February 24, 2022 in Luhansk and Donetsk regions) .
Advocacy and control over the activities of national and local authorities, other legal entities and individuals.
Funding Information
The maximum grant amount is expected to be up to $100,000. USA for up to 12 months.

Duration
Regardless of the start date, all proposed program activities must be completed by June 30, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria
Officially registered CSOs, unregistered groups and public initiatives from all regions of Ukraine have the right to apply.
Under this competition, the Pact cannot provide grants to commercial organizations, political parties, government institutions and individuals.
