Save the Children is recruiting a New Business Team Lead to further strengthen and build Save the Children’s broad-ranging partnerships within a portfolio of existing and new multilateral and bilateral partners. This role is responsible for the development of new partnerships and/ or development of new partnership opportunities within our existing portfolio of partners. New partners can include various Multilateral Development Banks, Governments eg Irish, French & Belgian as well as a portfolio of specialist thematic institutions and funds, such as Power of Nutrition, Education Cannot Wait, CIFF, GPE amongst others.

As the New Business Team Lead you will lead a virtual team of partnership experts to drive SCUK’s diversification of funding ambition, by providing vision and strategic direction to the organisation and wider movement. You will make sure that we capitalise on funding opportunities that are consistent with our strategic and thematic priorities to deliver change for children. You will also lead our engagement in efforts to inform and influence policies and investment priorities. In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting vision and strategic direction to the organisation, and wider movement influencing a complex global network of internal and external stakeholders (including at the most senior levels) to optimise our engagement with a portfolio of key partners.
  • Strengthening, developing, and optimising both existing and new partnership opportunities across the global movement.
  • Developing and pro-actively driving both Save the Children’s overall new business strategy and strategies for each partnership opportunity.
  • As a senior member of the PD Team and a senior staff member in the organisation, and movement, contribute to the development of the wider strategic agenda, lead on cross departmental/divisional projects and deputise for the Head of Partnership Development, as required.

To be successful you will have a good understanding of and significant experience within international development in field/regional and/or HQ levels. As well as a proven track record in partnership building, brokering with donors and donor coordination. A committed team player and a strong manager, you will also have:

  • Significant experience in leading partnerships, ideally at both field and headquarter levels.
  • Thorough understanding of international development issues, including in complex environments.
  • A strong network and working relationships with institutional partners, especially at HQ and Regional levels.
  • Strong leadership behaviours, including external orientation, situational agility, customer focus, delivery of results, communicating strategic vision and purpose
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at a high level and with a range of appropriate styles for different audiences including implementers, policy makers, legislators, and media
  • Proven ability to build strong collaborative networks, externally and internally
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with fluent written and spoken English.
  • The ability and willingness to travel.
