Save the Children UK recruits 01 Donor Compliance Manager

We are looking for two proactive and committed individuals to join us as Donor Compliance Managers one on a permanent basis, and one to cover a 12 month maternity leave. The roles will cover our key institutional partnerships: World Bank, DFID, EC, UN (UNCEF, OCHA) funding with the aim to provide expert advice and inputs into awards throughout the cycle to mitigate risks, with particular focus on upstream compliance; act as a focal point with regard to donor risk management; and lead on strengthening donor compliance capacities across the movement. Post holders will also actively contribute to strengthening the strategic direction of our key partnerships working alongside the Partnership Development team.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes through strong institutional partnerships – including governments, multi-laterals, trusts and foundations – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As a member of the Donor Compliance team, you will contribute to the provision and cultivation of expertise in donor relationship, compliance, business development and engagement in order to enhance and amplify our long-term partnerships, influencing and collaborating with them in order to achieve our shared goals for children. Your expertise will be required to:

  • Maintain, develop and implement guidelines to undertake risk assessment of funding opportunities.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies through engagement or capacity building working in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure adequate follow-up of risk mitigation activities through pro-active lessons sharing and learning with key stakeholders.
  • Design and deliver refreshers/trainings to a wide range of staff across SCUK and within the movement.
  • Prepare, plan, implement and follow up on donor compliance reviews of specific awards.
  • Build effective peer and sector-wide relationships in order to capture emerging trends in dealing with compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teams and SCI to develop and embed our partnership, account management and risk approach, and maximise the benefit of the team’s work to the wider organisation and movement.

To be successful you will have solid knowledge of and experience in working with institutional partners, such as the World Bank, UN (UNICEF, OCHA), DFID, and EU. Knowledge and experience working with other specialised institutions and foundations with strong regulatory frameworks is an advantage. You will have substantial experience in donor compliance, particularly in risk mitigation and management, contracting and award management procedures. With excellent verbal and written communication skills you will have the ability to challenge and negotiate assertively and cooperatively with senior staff. In addition, you will:

  • Be educated to degree level in a field relevant to humanitarian or development work.
  • Have demonstrable commitment to equal opportunities and awareness of what constitutes good practice.
  • Experience of influencing and delivering results cross-organisationally within a large complex organisation.
  • Fluency in French would be an advantage.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we’ll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
