Save the Children recruits 01 Joining Forces Campaign Manager

Save the Children

Kampala, Uganda
Joining Forces Campaign Manager
Joining Forces” is a global collaboration between six of the world’s largest child rights organisations – ChildFund, Plan, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, Terre des Hommes and World Vision.
It aims to fight for child rights and end violence against children, by working together to share learning and experiences and maximise our impact.
In Uganda, Joining Forces is launching a new campaign to end corporal punishment in schools. The campaign will initially focus on a selected group of target schools and communities, and will work to change attitudes and practices, pilot and gather evidence of innovative new ‘positive discipline’ approaches, support implementation of laws and policies, and promote child participation and child-led solutions. We plan to then expand the campaign to more schools and communities nationwide.
We are looking for a Campaign Manager to lead, drive and grow this campaign. S/he will be passionate about ending violence against children, with proven experience of campaigning for change and managing projects and teams. S/he will lead a management unit, which supports and coordinates the activities of the six member organisations and leads advocacy, research, public campaigning, media and public mobilisation at community and national level.
S/he will lead creative campaigning activities, develop networks of champions (such as teachers and children), generate and package evidence and learning for different audiences, and work closely with target schools and child protection teams. The post holder will represent Joining Forces externally and internally, and identify new funding opportunities to expand the campaign nationally.

8 years experience in project and budget management, preferably managing multi-partner projects (consortia).
Relevant experience in campaigning, advocacy, programming or project management – preferably related to child protection, education and/or child rights
A proven and demonstrable ability to design/drive and implement public campaigns which influence attitudes in Ugandan communities is essential.
Demonstrable experience of fundraising, resource mobilisation and donor engagement
Experience managing staff, working closely with partners and leading coalitions is desirable
Experience of supporting child-led or child-participatory advocacy/campaigns is desirable
Able to multi-task and work to tight deadlines, and a willingness to work flexible hours
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation, steering and coaching
Knowledge of current national, regional and global debates on corporal punishment and violence against children is desirable
A commitment to Save the Children’s values and principles, particularly on child safeguarding, is essential
