MdM currently works in more than 40 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment.
In Iraq, MdM is involved in emergency, post-emergency and development programs. MdM’s objective is to support health care including sexual and reproductive health access in Dohuk, Ninewa and Kirkuk governorates, focusing on IDPs, returnees and host communities. Psychosocial support activities have been introduced in all the projects.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the responsibility of the general coordinator, you are developing the mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) strategy and supporting its implementation in Kirkuk, Ninewa and Dohuk.
More specifically, your responsibilities are to:
1.Technical support in activities preparation and implementation
-Develop the strategy, support and monitor the implementation of MHPSS activities
-Provide assistance and training to staff in relevant topics based on MHPSS country priorities
-Develop and define specific didactic materials for technical topics
-Monitor the implementation of a specific data collection system
-Put in place the necessary and harmonized tools to centralize and report all information regarding activities, respecting quality standards in a harmonized way between all bases in the mission
2.Training activities
-Develop appropriate training objectives, planning, contents and didactic materials and supervise its rolling-out in the bases by MH managers
-Conduct theoretical and on the job training for MHPSS and medical teams working in the primary healthcare centres
-Sensitize medical staff of the centre to psychological and psychosocial issues
3.Coordination activities and representation
-Advise mental health managers in the field
-Collect data from the different bases and provide an analysis
-Contribute to new donor proposals and reports
-Propose adaptations regarding the program if needed
-Participate in assessments relevant to development of MHPSS activities
-Represent MdM in relevant external meetings
-Meet regularly with health authorities in Baghdad
4.Human resources
-Draft and regularly revise job descriptions and written tests for MHPSS staff, in coordination with the MHPSS managers
-Participate in the recruitment process of the MH team when required
-Conduct technical appraisal with the MHPSS managers
-Ensure that MHPSS staff receives information and feedback on inquiries on time and have access to appropriate assistance and training
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Status : Employee
Contract : Fixed-term contract
Duration : 6 to 12 months
Starting date: as soon as possible
Position based in Erbil with regular field visits to Kirkuk, Dohuk and Baghdad
Gross monthly salary: 3 041 euros
Premium equal to one month salary paid in two instalments – minimum of 6 months seniority required
Expatriation bonus (10% gross salary per month)
Transportation cost, vaccines and visas covered

22.5 RTT (recovery days) per year
5 weeks of paid leaves per year.
Health insurance (60% covered by MdM and 40% by the employee)

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Experience in a similar position, especially in implementation of guidelines on MHPSS
Psychiatrist or Psychologist diploma
Experience of work in an inter-cultural context
Good training abilities
Ability to create tools and monitoring processes
Patience and stress management
Ability to work with minimum support, capacity to take initiatives to changing requirements
Excellent organisational skills
Good communication skills
Languages: English fluent
Kurdish/Arabic is an asset
