OpportunityWe are currently looking to hire a candidate to take up the new and exciting role of On Site Depot and Warehouse Manager in Conakry.
The Depot and Warehouse Manager is fully accountable for P&L and operations of the Depot & Warehouse for the site, having business development & operational ownership. Operational management supporting and enabling the Maersk Depot and Warehourse product families and value proposition to our clients being either stand alone or part of a global supply chain solution.

Key responsibilities
Profit & Loss• P&L responsible for the site. Covering all products and clients offered at this site
• New and existing customer management.• Contract management in alignment with Procurement team.• Site performance (cost/utilization).• Continuous improvement & optimization of assets.• Investment proposals and follow up on the same.
Product (Depot)• Responsible for the resource’s allocation.
• Responsible for maintaining a satisfactory level of staff discipline during the shift and report in case of any violations.• Ensure safe working practices according to APM policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.• Ensures good communication between Maintenance and Operations to minimize equipment downtime• Ensures good communications throughout Operations group and their group interactions so that activities are running smoothly on a regular basis.• Practices management “by walking around” to observe and obtain feedback about conditions, issues, and general environment.• Ensures a cost-efficient operation in excess of current best practices• Provides the leadership and direction for the depot operations• Liaises closely with shipping companies, trucking companies, port authorities, and other statutory authorities to ensure that their requirements are met• Liaises closely with vendors, suppliers, external consultants, etc to ensure that divergent deliverables are met as required• Ensures compliance with HSSE policies & procedures to promote safe working practices and ensure lost time injuries are kept to a minimum• Assist when necessary in establishing or reviewing customs and other external procedures affecting depot users• Measures and monitors performance against critical criteria, policy and guidelines established by APM Terminals• Build a performance KPIs for the depot section• At all-time follow safety procedures and instructions as/where applicable• Report any unsafe situation inside the depot to manager and HSSE• Send all reports requested to concerned parties
Product (WND)• Execution of WND strategy for site in alignment with area WnD head
• Ensure business development aligned with strategy• Develop new customers by liaising with area sales• Site implementation• Growth targets• Product mix• Tender handling support to area WnD head• Customization and localization of the products within the framework
Operational excellence• Manage the operations of the location
• HSSE & compliance adherence• Manage subcontractors needs and used at this location for WnD services• Drive compliance & regulatory adherence• Sites operating basis security / IT standards
General management• Lease administration
• Contract management• Drive adherence to governance framework
People• Facilitate the execution training linked to products, solutions and clients
• All people and safety aspects• Having the best place to work and taking care for our clients
We are looking forEducation: Preferable a university degree in logistics, maritime and port, or process/industrial engineering or a marine qualification or similar level
Experience: Minimum 5 years in operations roles including staff responsibility. Understanding of the transport industry and an ability to relate with shipping company and other associated industry managers
Knowledge: Must have fundamental knowledge of transportation and logistics industry and must have excellent knowledge of container handling principles.
