UNICEF West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO) launched a batch recruitment exercise of Human Resources Associates at GS6 level to fill two
positions, one reporting to the Regional Chief HR and the other to the HR Specialist.
How can you make a difference?
Human Resources Associate GS6, reporting to the Regional Chief of Human Resources.
Under the supervision of the Regional Chief of HR and in close collaboration with all members of the team the HR Associate will be responsible for the following activities:
– Contribute to General Services (GS) job classification by entering data in the system and providing technical advice as per the job classification guidelines;
– Contribute to the review and approval processes for national officer recommendations;
– Support in the timely filling of vacancies with qualified candidates by:
– Screening and shortlisting candidates;
– scheduling technical assessments and preparing assessment reports;
– effective communication with all actors in the selection process;
– Plan and organize HR network training meetings;
– Process and track all staff requests requiring Regional Director’s approval by:
– Reviewing request to determine eligibility,
 -Advising staff on eligibility criteria as per policy,
– Communicating decision outcomes.
– Support in the testing and roll-out of new HR systems and tools by serving as focal point;
– – Responsible for information management by managing the HR mailboxes
– Contribute to results monitoring by maintaining an HR action tracker and HR Calendar of events
Human Resources Associate GS6, reporting to the Human Resources Specialist.
Under the supervision of the HR Specialist the Human Resources Associate provides administrative, procedural and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources activities for all categories of staff, ensuring accurate and timely delivery, whilst promoting a client-based, quality and results orientated approach to the unit and ensuring compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.
S/he will be responsible for the following activities:
Support in all aspects of Human resources management including and not limited to: planning, strategic staffing, recruitment and selection, on-boarding and orientation, learning and development, performance management, administration of benefits and entitlements;
Support in the development of HR work plan;
Responsible for HR work monitoring;
Coordinate the development and maintenance of workflow processes;
Track and prepare reports on HR performance indicators;
Manage communication with clients through a dedicated email address;
Manage electronic filing system;
Manage client satisfaction surveys;
Support staff in transition;
Manage exit interviews;
Support in organization design and job classification.
To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…
Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in Human Resources, Business Administration, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related areas.
A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible human resources, experience required.
Prior experience working in a UN system will be considered an asset.
Familiarity with HR tools and systems will be an asset.
Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English is required.
