JOB SUMMARY 

The Global Pharmaceutical Services Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical assistance throughout the program cycle from support, design, implementation of Pharmaceutical management tools, and management of medical commodities to monitoring and evaluation for impact of Pharmaceutical management tools in IMC missions. S/he will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a system for regular communication with mission pharmaceutical and medical teams and International Medical Corps· HQ GPSU staff. S/he will also be responsible to provide technical assistance to all missions in the region through selecting existing up to date guidance documents that are appropriate for International Medical Corps’ programs and the development of additional guidance documents as needed using regional contexts. S/he will provide virtual and onsite technical assistance as well as trainings when needed and assist with the Pharmaceutical services and Pharmaceutical supply chain management component of proposals generated from country offices within the region. The Global Pharmaceutical Services Coordinator will collaborate closely with other IMC staff in their assigned region, Global logistics department as well as all other pertinent departments in order to carry out successful tasks and will engage with internal and external technical working groups with the aim of improving quality of Pharmaceutical services programming.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL: • Support continuous improvement of the in-country medical supply chain in all International Medical Corps operations in the region; assessing level of organizational compliance with international Medical Corps’ internal guidelines as well as universally endorsed protocols and standards for pharmaceutical management. • Regularly perform supportive supervision to country missions in the region in order to assist, advise, train and build the capacity of field medical and pharmaceutical as well as logistics and program staff on all components of the pharmaceutical supply chain management. • Provide continuous and regular support to mission teams during the planning and implementation of different pharmaceutical supply management tools and systems. • Assist the GPSU in conducting essential drugs surveys (i.e. drug procurement practices, rational drug use, quality assurance etc.) and link the results with the elaboration of training modules on Rational Drug Us; • Strengthen the compliance and standards of implementation in line with host country/WHO guidelines, protocols and standards in response to gaps identified based on the technical assessments; • Work with the International Medical Corps’ Logistic teams to facilitate medical commodities procurement using best practices and guidelines;

CAPACITY BUILDING AND MENTORSHIP: • Provide support in identifying, recruiting and onboarding process of key Pharmaceutical staff for missions in assigned region • Assist in designing and delivering in-house training courses for International Medical Corps staff based on a capacity needs assessment with all country program medical, logistic and operations staff in the region • Support and respond to requests and enquiries concerning drugs and Pharmaceutical management by country programs through undertaking relevant research and capacity building of team members during field visits, remote support and other capacity building strategies such as distance learning

REPRESENTATION AND REPORTING: • Participate in and support the representation of International Medical Corps in the region at relevant regional or country technical coordination meetings, donor meetings and communications for sharing evidence and best practice through formal and informal channels; • Participate in networking on pharmaceutical and drugs management technical issues and representation on relevant forums at regional level; • Develop quarterly work plans and reports to share within the Global Pharmaceutical Services Unit and with another relevant headquarters teams.

  •  Typically, a Master’s degree in Pharmacy is required. Pharmacist with MPH preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

EXPERIENCE

  • Typically, 8+ year of relevant and progressive experience in the field of Public Health/Health Services and related pharmaceutical management, supply and monitoring.
  • Experience in training and knowledge of principles of adult learning;
  • Demonstrated international field experience in Pharmaceutical services and pharmaceutical supply chain management
  • Fluency in spoken and written English language necessary with preferred proficiency in spoken and written French and Arabic;
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Ability to travel up to 70 % of time
