HI recruits 01 Project Manager Risk Education/Health
Outraged by the injustice faced by people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, we aspire to a world of solidarity and inclusion, enriched by our differences, where everyone can live in dignity. For more information about the organisation: http://www.handicap-international.org MISSION CONTEXT HI is managing a large humanitarian program from three different hubs (Centre, North and North-East), along four main pillars: 1. Support to health partners (hospitals, care houses, psychosocial support centers, local NGOs) for the provision of comprehensive psychosocial support services ( psychosocial support, psychosocial support and/or prosthetics and orthotics) through training, technical supervisions and donations of assistive devices and/or equipment; 2. Emergency response to the basic needs of vulnerable people affected by sudden crisis, through one-shot distributions of food baskets, household essential items and hygiene kits, and through the management of an adapted humanitarian coordination mechanism for emergency responses. 3. Education to the risks and effects caused by conventional weapons (including mines, explosive remnants of war and small arms light weapons) and urgent marking of hazardous areas; 4. Training and technical support to other humanitarian actors on the inclusion of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable persons in the humanitarian response (with a special focus on inclusive health and inclusive livelihoods). The actual intervention is based on a mix of partnerships with local structures and organizations, and direct implementation programs. In the North-East hub, HI has three separate field bases in three different governorates and manages its humanitarian and resilience programs with direct implementation modalities. DESCRIPTION DE POSTE : HI launched initial emergency activities (4 risk education mobile teams and support to a physical rehabilitation unit in a hospital) in the governorate of intervention from its 1st field base during April / June 2018. From July to December 2018, relying on a dedicated team deployed in the governorate, HI reinforced its presence through the setup of a base, scale up of activities in the governorate (from 4 to 12 risk education mobile teams and discussion to support a second health facility in the governorate). Emergency needs in the governorate remain acute with a persistently insufficient humanitarian coverage, despite the gradual arrival of new organizations in the area. Finally, the operational context continues to be extremely volatile, with various challenges in terms of access, security and limited short/mid-term prospects. Given the uncertainty in the local context and the potential impact of a significant change on programming, HI is currently working on the definition of a contingency plan in order to anticipate the different scenarios and their expected aftermaths. The contribution of the PM might be requested in the frame of this work. – Contributing to strategy development 1/ Project implementation and monitoring PROFIL ATTENDU : Education: Experience Competencies: SPECIFICITES/PARTICULARITES DU POSTE : International staff live in collective guesthouses with 3 to 6 permanent staff and occasional visitors.
