Context of the position

The French Red Cross (FRC) is operating in Northern Iraq since 2013 in Dohuk, Ninewa and Erbil governorates. Focused first on the influx of Syrian refugees, then on the IDP crisis – installed among host communities in Northern Iraq – and the challenging displacements and returns of population, the FRC provides in Iraq assistance to the beneficiaries in the most need.With its partner, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS), the FRC responded to the first wave of families displaced from Mosul in October 2016 and is currently operating programmes in Education, WASH and Livelihoods.In order to pursue its humanitarian assistance in Northern Iraq, in 2019, the FRC continues its efforts to support recovery assistance for Syrian refugees, Iraqi IDPs, returnees and most vulnerable host communities.

The French Red Cross Iraqi Delegation currently employs about 25 national staffs and 6 international staffs.The Sub-Delegation itself is based in Dohuk with a sub-office in Sinoni (Sinjar District), and is supported by the Coordination office in Erbil.

The position

Role

  • Under the supervision of the head of delegation, you will be responsible for securing logistical performance and coordination at mission level in order to provide programs with optimum support.

– The logistics coordinator is under the responsibility of the head of delegation

– The logistics coordinator is the line manager of the following FRC staff

  • Supply chain delegate
  • IT officer
  • Assistant logistics

  • The coordination team (administrative coordinator, project managers)

Skills and ability

  • Bachelor degree in logistics
  • 3 years of experience in managing humanitarian logistics, supply chain and security management
  • Experience as a manager of international & local staff
  • Strong computer and communication equipment skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in providing technical advice in a broad range of logistics areas, including fleet management and supply chain. You have a thorough understanding of donor rules and regulations (UN, EU…).
  • Previous field experience with FRC or the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is an asset
  • Experience in Middle East context is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Ability to work under high pressure and without constant supervision
  • Able to create a team work environment. Comfortable and flexible in human relations
  • English mandatory (oral and written), Arabic and / or French would be an asset

Summary

  • Location : Erbil- IRAQI KURDISTAN region
  • Duration:  6 months renewable
  • To be filled: October 2019
  • Status: expatriate position

Prerequisites

  • Passport valid for more than 6 months at the moment of departure
  • Up-to-date vaccination card / fitness for travel

Stay Safe is intended for every staff in a position to carry out international missions on behalf of the Federation or a National Society of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. The course aims at developing a common culture of security management within the Movement in order to enable a better understanding of the main threats and risks for humanitarian actors in the field, and offers solutions to restrain their impact.
