Chemonics seeks a finance and operations manager for the anticipated USAID-funded Malawi Modern Cooking for Healthy Forests activity (“Tiphike Mwa Makono”). This five-year activity will promote sustainable forest management and energy options to maintain forest cover and reduce land-based emissions in Malawi. By increasing the demand for alternative and efficient energy options and technologies, and the supply of sustainable wood fuels from well-managed forest resources, the activity will help Malawi reduce unsustainable tree cutting in both public and customary forests, improve forest cover, and conserve associated watersheds. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Financial management, grants management, compliance, and other operational and administrative duties in compliance with USAID cooperative assistance rules and regulations
Oversee management of all HR, procurement, and grants administration activities
Provide guidance and management support to keep procurement and activities on track, within budget, and in compliance with the contract, Chemonics policies and procedures, and applicable federal, USAID, and local regulations
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration; master’s degree preferred
Minimum eight years of increasing responsibility in administrative and financial management of large-scale, complex international development assistance programs
Detailed knowledge of and experience with finance and accounting procedures, regulations, and systems for USAID projects
Experience with personnel management and human resources systems, policies, and procedures
Experience managing and mentoring subcontractors and grantees preferred
Ability to work effectively, independently, and in a team environment with a broad range of local and international personnel and partners
Demonstrated leadership and management skills; experience mentoring and supervising staff at all levels
Knowledge and experience of the procurement process from solicitation to award
Extensive experience in development and managing a donor-funded grants program
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) to implement, analyze, monitor, and manage goals, inputs, outcomes, and achievements
Proficiency in Dynamics 365 Office products preferred
Ability to develop working relationships and trust with public and private organizations
Fluent English; excellent written and oral communications skills
Proficient Chichewa or other applicable language preferred
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
