Chemonics seeks an enabling environment lead for the anticipated USAID-funded Tanzania Comprehensive Cascade for Epidemic Control Among Key and Vulnerable Populations (CCC-KVP) program. This program seeks to improve the cascade of HIV prevention, testing, and treatment for key populations affected by high HIV prevalence and with limited access to and low coverage of HIV services. CCC-KVP aims to promote HIV and gender-based violence prevention and family planning services for key vulnerable populations and people living with HIV. The enabling environment lead will spearhead advocacy and policy efforts, capacity building and behavioral change programming and cross-sectoral linkages. The enabling environment lead will work closely with leadership and partners to ensure that innovative, state-of-the-art approaches to increasing the use of services and fostering resilience of key and vulnerable populations and people living with HIV within the Tanzanian context. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Help design overarching programmatic strategy for social behavior change, communications, organizational development and advocacy efforts
Work collaboratively across technical disciplines and manage cross-sectoral teams
Participate in policy dialogue, technical working groups, and stakeholder meetings to ensure that programmatic interventions are broadly disseminated and vetted
Develop and maintain working relationships with the U.S. government, foreign governments, development partners, and civil society
Develop and implement effective partnerships with private sector entities
Travel to activity locations within Tanzania and to other places as required
Ensure an integrated programming approach that takes into consideration gender, economic empowerment, and other key factors based on the needs identified across the cascade
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in public health, public policy, human rights, international development, business, or a related field preferred
Minimum of eight years of relevant development experience; experience working in a leadership position under a USAID, U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or other donor-funded health program preferred
Familiarity with the political, social, and cultural context in Tanzania; understanding of the Tanzanian health context and structures preferred
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Strong communication skills in written and oral English required
