Country: Iraq, based in Mosul Context: Iraq faces a double crisis since the beginning of 2014. After the arrival of nearly 250,000 Syrian refugees in 2013, the multiple offensives of ISIS have caused the displacement of more than three million people across the country. In the summer of 2014, attacks on Mosul and the Sinjar region pushed hundreds of thousands of people into Iraqi Kurdistan. In the space of a few weeks, more than 800,000 people have found refuge in the three governorates of the region (Dohuk, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah). The humanitarian aid in Iraqi Kurdistan has thus become one of the major challenge for NGOs. Presentation of the mission: ACF’s intervention in Kurdistan region of Iraq started after the sudden massive influx of refugees fleeing the Syrian crisis in August 2013. ACF has been operational in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Diyala, Dohuk and Ninewah Governorates responding to WASH, Food Security and Mental Health needs of the Syrian refugees and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) population both in camps and non-camp settings. In addition and according to IOM-DTM, since the start of Mosul operations in October 2016, an adding 142,698 individuals and 23,783 families are currently displaced. ACF is responding to Mosul emergency with mobile teams across the country and is scaling-up its humanitarian response in 2017 with an integrated and multi-sectorial approach, addressing WASH, Mental Health & Care Practices and Food Security needs. ACF is strongly involved in the coordination mechanisms, as an active member of the national WASH, FSL, Health, Protection and NFI/Shelter Clusters, and is currently the national WASH Cluster co-coordinator. Length of contract: 6 months, starting June 9th 2019. The position: You will be responsible for implementation of the Care Practices and MHPSS program in Mosul, Hammam al Alil, and Qayarra. More precisely, you will have to:
The applicant: You hold a Master’s in Clinical psychology or psychology and have at least two years’ experience in humanitarian sector as a manager. An experience in emergency setting would clearly be an asset. You have experience in managing mother and child programs in integration with nutrition, knowledge in IYCF (Infants and Young Child Feeding) and care practices would be highly recommended. Your ability to set, manage priorities & take decisions is recognized. You have proven leadership skills with large teams, and autonomy required. You demonstrate an excellent diplomacy, communication, and organizational skills for coordination and referral purpose. Very Good proficiency in English (written and spoken) is required, Arabic would be an asset.
