The aim of this scheme is to support civil society movements and build organizational capabilities needed for conservation work in Malaysia, to innovate and find quicker and less costly solutions to environmental/social problems, and to complement WWF-Malaysia’s conservation efforts.

In the long term, it is hoped that the civil society movements facilitated by the Conservation Partnership Scheme (CPS) will result in more partnerships, synergies, and also increased capacities and expertise for better conservation outcomes.

The proposed project must fall into at least one of these categories:

  • Biodiversity status monitoring
  • Citizen science
  • Greener lifestyle
  • Conservation enterprise / Sustainable livelihood
  • Habitat restoration and/or management
  • Capacity building

Grant Amount and Duration

  • A maximum of RM30, 000will be awarded to successful applicants on a competitive basis.
  • Proposed project period should be:
    • At least 12 months.
    • For longer-term project, applicants are encouraged to break them into phases and ensure one of the project phases fulfill the requirements stated herein.

The grant is open to all:

  • Community-based organizations (CBOs)
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
  • Social Enterprises
  • Research Institutes.

Selection Criteria           

  • Relevance to WWF-Malaysia Strategy: Topic and content of the project aligned to the purpose of the Scheme and contribute to WWF-Malaysia Strategy 2012-2020 directly or indirectly.
  • Project rationale: The project has a clearly articulated rationale (problem analysis) that demonstrates the need for the work.
  • Quality of project design and planning: Potential impacts and outcomes are clearly defined and achievable; a clear and realistic workplan is formulated.
  • Competency of applicant: The applicant possesses skills that are required for project implementation.
  • Suitability of budget: Budget requested is suitable, efficient and reasonable.
  • Innovation: The project uses innovative approaches and initiatives in conservation and natural resource management.
