Svitzer AMEA Region seeks excellent Port Engineer to manage the technical management of harbour towage vessels.

We offer
The Port Engineer will form part of the Port Management Team, and will be responsible for all front line technical matters for the small fleet.
You will be responsible for overall functional leadership of the Engineering crew onboard the vessels and will work closely with the Port Manager to manage the performance of the operation.
You will also manage SVITZER vessels maintenance and condition, maintaining close liaison on technical matters with the Regional Technical Manager in Dubai. The position offers a unique opportunity for a pro-active and organized individual to exercise functional leadership across a large operation, building a culture of technical excellence and craftsmanship across the fleet. This position will be able to draw from a well developed toolbox within the Global Svitzer organization, selecting and applying practices from other parts of the world and applying in a local context.
Key responsibilities
• Overall on-site responsibility for the Technical maintenance of all vessels.
• Ensure the continuous maintenance of tugs, vessels and other marine equipment to minimize downtime.
• Arrange local supply contacts and arrangements to ensure continuity within the operating budget as locally agreed.
• Supervise maintenance programs for vessels and to provide dry dock specifications.
• Directly supervise sub-Contractors working on the company’s vessels and equipment on-site.
• Advise management promptly of any fault with or damages to the vessels or equipment.
• Maintain a continuous record of maintenance under an agreed program in a suitable planned maintenance system.
• Manage stock control system and a spares ordering procedure.
• Assist in emergencies as required.
• Monitoring the ordering of lubes and engine room consumables – amount and quality.
• Ensure all operations are conducted in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
• Act as training coordinator / facilitator when required.
• Coordinating between vessels and regional technical management.
• Supervise and Maintain the enhanced computerized planned maintenance such as sertica program.
• Ensure that safety and health regulations are complied with daily.
• Pro- active participation in HMS
• Assistance with preparation of docking, maintenance and repair budgets, and monitoring of expenditure, preparation of docking specifications and reports.
• Ensure onboard compliance with company policies in regard to planned maintenance, QA, ISM, Security and safe operation of the fleet.
• Participation and strict compliance with all Health, Safety, & Environment rules, regulations, company policies and processes when/where applicable, in particular with regard to the environment
• Prepare and control maintenance and repair budget of the marine units.
• Other duties as may be required by the Port Captain and/or Tech. Superintendant
We are looking for
Education
• Engineering/Marine Degree or related courses.
• Candidates must hold a VALID Class One Engineer Certificate.
• Atleast 3-5 years of relevant shore based experience.
Functional Experience:
• Prior experience of managing technical excellence of tug-boats or
OSV/AHTS vessels.
• Experience with implementing and maintaining ISM code/PMS.
• Good people and systems management.
• English is the business language of our Company worldwide and spoken and written English fluency is required.
• Operating experience in higher rank marine environment.
