The Svitzer Group seeks to employ an experienced Marine Services Towage Operations Manager / Port Captain.
This role will suit a seasoned general manager with operational towage / AHTS experience not negotiable.
In co-operation with your reliever, you will ensure the management and support of the fleet, it’s crew and a small onshore office.
The role requires an independent thinking, innovative and business leader to lead the organization, take ownership of operations and ensure that safety, operational excellence and business case are realised.
Svitzer is a non-integrated Business Unit of the Transport and Logistics Division of the MAERSK GROUP.

Key responsibilities
• Day to day safe and efficient operation of the marine units.
• Holding weekly operation meetings with masters.
• In charge of all investigations in case of accidents.
• Coordinating with the client for all operations and contractual issues.
• Responsible for implementation of company HMS, HSE and company policies.
• Follow up all invoices received from head office to our client.
• Pro- active participation in HMS. (Harmonised Management System)
• Build working relationships with client, tug crews and port operation staff.
• Support, coach and develop staff within Port Said Contract.
• Set and cascade objectives and KPIs to match regional- and Port Said Operation targets.
• Ensure that all SVITZER employees in your operation understand and adhere to SVITZER guidelines, authorities and policies.
• Any other work task assigned by Contract Manager.
• Ensure second-to-none customer service by capturing and addressing customer needs – and co-ordinating operational solutions to these.
• Drive cost efficiency in all administrational, operational and technical expenditure.
• Prepare and manage M&R costs and docking plans.
• Prepare and manage contract budget and forecast as required.
• Implement best practise standards for finance and operations, as communicated by SVITZER Group / AMEA Region/ Country Manager.
• Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements for Egypt, in co-operation with AMEA Region Corporate Affairs and Legal Council.
• In co-ordination with the Egypt Finance Manager, maintain an efficient financial organisation to secure financial transparency, reporting and analysis.
• Ensure that vessels are manned and equipped according to legal requirements and SVITZER standards for relevant operational activities.
• Promote an industry-leading safety culture and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and policies.
We are looking for
• MUST be in possession of a valid Masters CoC and be an experienced Tug Master with specific experience on ASD tugs in the Harbour Towage environment.
• Min 3 years ASD Tug Master experience in Harbour or Terminal Operations.
• Preferably Port Captain Experience.
• A seasoned marine services general manager with a proven record of successful management of operations servicing the Harbour Towage industry.
• Proven experience in Project Management
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the capability to deal with people at a broad range of levels.
• High level of professionalism, honesty and integrity
• Excellent organisational, time management and planning skills
• The ability to think conceptually while managing the detail
• Strong understanding of change management and the ability to work effectively in a matrix structure
