The interns will join the Disaster Management Department of IFRC Sahel Cluster based in Dakar. IFRC’s Dakar office is the hub to support National Societies of the Sahel.
Job Purpose
The interns will support the Disaster Management Department of Sahel’s Cluster in monitoring disaster risks and managing the projects in the region, providing adequate support to analysis and reporting tasks.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Interns, under the direct supervision of the Disaster Management Delegate, will be mainly responsible for :
•Support the management of emergency projects: •Contribute to the revision of project documents and planning;
•Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects, analysing data and partners’ reports;
•Support risk monitoring and analysis in the region:
Monitor and assess national, regional and global sources providing information on the Sahel Region;
•Support reporting, communication and coordination of activities:
•Contribute to reviewing narrative reports and partners activities in the region ;;
•Support the development of communication tools on IFRC activities in the Sahel.
Throughout the internship, other tasks related to the activities of the Disaster Management Department might be assigned to the intern.
Education
– Relevant University degree – (Bachelor level required – Masters’ degree preferred) on one of these subjects or related topics: Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science – Required
Experience
– Experience of working in civil society organizations, NGOs or United Nation institutions on humanitarian and development topics – Preferred
– Experience in secondary data analysis and report writing – Preferred
– Experience in programme management – Preferred
– Experience of working in the Red Cross Movement – Preferred
Knowledge, skills and languages
– High degree of integrity, discretion and personal conduct – Required
– Flexible and adaptable to changing working conditions – Required
– Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills – Required
– Strong communication and administrative skills – Required
– Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills and analytical skills – Preferred

– Good command of another IFRC official language (French, Spanish or Arabic) – Required
