International Medical Corps is a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) confirmed its tenth outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) on August 1, 2018, just days after the Equateur Province EVD outbreak ended. The National Institute of Biomedical Research (INRB) completed the sequencing of the virus’s genome and has determined that the new outbreak, in North Kivu and Ituri, is not linked to the Equateur Province outbreak. The Ministry of Health (MoH), as of September 23, 2018, has reported 150 cases of hemorrhagic fever, with 119 confirmed as EVD and 31 probable cases of EVD. Since August 11, 2019, the number of cases has risen beyond two thousand confirmed cases.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator, this position has primary responsibility of ensuring the daily nursing management of patients in Mangina Ebola Treatment Center.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a good selection of patients through a good system of triage in the structure;
- Proper use of protocols and the case definitions for suspected patients;
- Provide direct care to patients in the diagnosis and treatment in primary emergency health care;
- Ensure that all the necessary items are supplied in the triage room and manage them in accordance with the structures;
- Identify the educational needs of local nurses and oversee on a daily basis.
- Monitor and supervise the delivery of healthcare by local nurses ensure that patients have up-to-date patient cards and are properly recorded and accounted for the reporting and the management of cases.
- Supervise the staff of the clinic and the management of Beni Transit Center.
- ?Nurse Supervisor follows all regulations concerning infection control and protective measures.
- Gives treatment at the appropriate time as prescribed by the doctor.
- Calls the doctor on duty if any medical problem arises.
- Ensures that each patient always has ORS or good quality water for rehydration.
- Assists patients with fluid intake as required by the individual or prescribed by the doctor.
- Ensures that the patients are comfortable.
- Ensures that the patients and their bedding are clean.
- Assists the patients with bathing and personal hygiene.
- Assists with the doctor’s ward rounds, and records the necessary medical information.
- Makes a detailed report at the end of the shift in the report book.
- Records new patients in the admission book, and completes other paperwork as required.
- Attends and participates in the weekly meeting.
- Informs the surveillance team of the general condition of the patients (to inform the relatives at home).
- Ensures that the admission process is pre planned and all information is gathered.
- Explains the rules of the ETU to all new patients, and their relatives.
- Provides the necessary protective gear to the relative and ensures that they are familiar with the rules of the ETU
