The Picnic Hackathon

Picnic is a Dutch online supermarket with a reputation for amazing customer service. One example of this is their approach to refunds. Received a rotten apple? No problem. Send them a picture & they’ll refund you right away!

While effective, this process is entirely manual, and Picnic wants to automate it. That’s where you come in. For this challenge, you’ll come up with a way to label or tag every picture that comes in according to the product that is in the picture.

Get started by downloading Picnic’s dataset containing photos of defective items.

There are €1,000 in prizes, so get on it!

 

MongoDB World Hackathon

The MongoDB World Hackathon is a competition for the world’s hackers, designers, and makers. The top 3 teams will win a trip to New York City where they will present their projects on stage at our annual conference, MongoDB World.

For this hackathon, anything goes: games, apps, IoT hacks, really anything you can think of. The only requirement is that you must to use at least one MongoDB product:

  • Our eponymous NoSQL database
  • Atlas, our cloud hosted DBaaS
  • Stitch, our serverless application platform
  • Mobile, an embeddable version of MongoDB for iOs, Android, and IoT
  • Charts, to build dashboards & visualizations

There are $42,100 in prizes, including $10,000 for first place! So get ready to team up, learn about new technology, and bring your ideas to life.

 

Lenovo Scholar Network 2019 National App Development Competition

Attention High schoolers! The Lenovo Scholar Network, now in its fourth year, is designed to provide high school students with an intensive application development program to enable the next generation of developers and entrepreneurs.

Here’s the challenge: Develop a mobile app with MIT’s App Inventor and compete for $12,500 in prizes. Additionally, the top 5 student teams will win a trip to Detroit, MI, to be recognized at the NAF Next Conference.

 

Appian World Hackathon 2019

Hey enterprise developers, wouldn’t it be great to build, iterate, and deploy applications quicker? With Appian, you can!

Whether you want to revamp existing business practices or seize a new opportunity, Appian allows you to develop applications efficiently and elegantly without custom code.

Challenge yourself and build a new (or updated) app using Appian’s platform and win up to $10,000 in cash prizes, plus an opportunity to attend Appian World 2020!

 

Twitch AWS Extensions Challenge

First, Twitch turned the live streaming world upside down. Now they’re partnering with AWS to elevate the streaming experience with Twitch Extensions.

Extensions are apps that can interact with live streams as a panel on a channel or a video overlay, creating a fully interactive experience between content creators & their viewers.

Get your hands dirty and build your first Extension using the WYSIWYG Twitch Extensions Sandbox. Then, distribute it on the Twitch Developer Portal for a chance to win $26,500 in prizes.

 

SXSW 2019 Hackathon (March 12 & 13) in Austin, TX

SXSW is now accepting applications for their sixth annual hackathon. Join developers, coders, and tech creatives to build tech that addresses the range of media covered at SXSW from Music to VR, AR, AI, and Blockchain.

The top three projects will be awarded cash prizes by our panel of top-level industry & creative judges, plus an opportunity to join the SXSW Hackathon Incubator.

☝️ All applications must be received before March 5, 2019.

 

Amazon Alexa Skills For Students

Alexa can help ease the lives of busy students, allowing them to focus on their studies. Whether it’s struggling with various classes, time management, or tutoring, Alexa can be a concierge, a study buddy, or a learning coach.

But what else can she do in this area? For this hackathon, you’ll build Alexa skills that fit into one of the following categories: Student life, Learning, or Community.

There are $30,590 in prizes including DeepLens video cameras, Echo devices, AWS credits, and Amazon gift cards.

FYI, This hackathon is open to residents of the US who are 18+ years old ANDmembers of the AWS Educate program.
