  • Permanent role* / full time *offered on a 12 month contract basis initially, with possibility of extension / move to permanent contract, subject to local labour laws.
  • Location: The successful candidate may be based in a country where one of the independent National/Regional Greenpeace organisations (NRO’s) is located (subject to agreement). See the locations here. We offer competitive NGO level salary and benefits, the specifics of which depend on location where the successful candidates will be based. Greenpeace International is in search of a digital marketing specialist to support our global organisation’s work to engage hundreds of millions of people in campaigns to create a green and peaceful future.

Greenpeace International is seeking a hardworking Digital Marketing Specialist to join our diverse international team, working with our digital marketing platform (HubSpot) and global websites.

You will help us to ensure that Greenpeace uses digital tools to deliver our engagement strategy and help build people-powered campaigns to:

  • Inspire, mobilise and engage millions of people to campaign alongside of us
  • Reach and empower more of society to be directly involved in our work
  • Deepen supporters’ engagement and contributions to our campaigns

As the Digital Marketing Specialist you will support the needs and develop the skills of Greenpeace’s global communities of digital practitioners. With inspiring training, collaborative working, and leading by example, you will encourage best use of our tools and perform an essential networking role to facilitate great relationships with and between our global network of offices.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of working in email engagement, digital campaigning and/or community support. It’s a fast paced role that requires skill, enthusiasm, curiosity and initiative. You will possess strong conceptual and problem-solving abilities, as well as a vision for how campaigning organisations can use digital channels to engage supporters and inspire change in the world.

We are ideally looking for a superb communicator, able to flourish in a culturally diverse environment, who enjoys working collaboratively to achieve common goals. You should have strong experience with digital marketing and broadcast email platforms.

This is a permanent position (initially offered for 1 year), working closely with our globally distributed team who are dispersed across all timezones.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure that practitioners are fully supported in their use of Greenpeace digital platforms (HubSpot) and provide specialist expertise on digital communications and online mobilisation techniques
  • Serve as a liaison between the practitioner community, product vendors, agencies, and our Global IT department
  • Act as a primary facilitator in moderating and supporting collaboration communities amongst practitioners, and represent the engagement systems team with internal and external partners
  • Maintain strong external awareness, seeking opportunities for improving or adding to our digital platforms portfolio
  • Support projects to implement global shared systems, facilitating the best experience possible for users when adopting a system

Job requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years experience working with engagement technology (e.g. direct marketing platforms, online campaigning, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with HubSpot is highly desirable
  • Technical and conceptual understanding of digital marketing, including the use of HTML and CSS (required), and preferably also content management systems and email marketing tools
  • Specialist knowledge of digital communications best practice across multiple channels, including usability and accessibility guidelines
  • ​​Broad knowledge of current business and engagement technology including: CRM, Web Analytics, Fundraising, Marketing or Monitoring Evaluation & Learning
  • Experience in delivering training – especially of a technical or editorial nature
  • A passion for taking the complex and making it simple, and for communicating through compelling stories
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and informally to achieve overall business objectives
  • Experience with working in an international and culturally diverse environment
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written and preferably one other foreign language
  • Ability and willingness to accommodate occasional travel
  • ​​Demonstrated support for Greenpeace mission and values.
