The UN Women is inviting proposals to design and implement a project to build capacities of all key stakeholders, including not limited to women workers, management, government, small scale farmers, associations and private sector on enhancing women’s health, wellbeing and safety in the spice sector in Rajasthan and Kerala.

UN Women’s work on ending violence against women focuses on advocacy for, and support to, women and girls’ access to quality, multi-sectoral services essential for their safety, protection, and recovery, especially for those who already suffer multiple forms of discrimination.

UN Women India Country Office is currently implementing a programme in five states to forge and strengthen multi-stakeholder partnerships in the tea, spice, cotton and textile sector to improve the overall health, wellness, and safety of women in the tea, spice, cotton, and textile sectors. The programme also aims to collaborate with local governments and community organizations to strengthen the capacities of women and men agents of change, ensuring sustainable practices and coordinating efforts in the prevention of violence against women.

  • UN Women seeks the services of a proponent organisation to design and implement a project to build capacities of all key stakeholders, including not limited to women workers, management, government, small scale farmers, associations and private sector on enhancing women’s health, wellbeing and safety in the spice sector in Rajasthan and Kerala.
  • The proponent organization is expected to implement programme activities with women workers and small-scale farmers in 6 districts in Kerala and Rajasthan on health, wellness and safety:
    • Rajasthan: Baran, Jhalawar, Ajmer/Jodhpur
    • Kerala: Wayanad, Idukki, and Calicut
Focus Areas
  • The focus areas would be:
    • Health, wellness and safety
    • Financial and digital literacy
    • Create awareness of linkages with government, skill development, and financial schemes for continued support.
  • Essential Programme participants:
    • Women workers and small-scale farmers
    • Community members, men and boys
  • Within the model intervention sites in 2 sub districts, set up and activate women’s wellness clubs, enrolling active local change agents with a focus on creating linkages with government schemes and support structures:
    • Design and create wellness club structure (non-physical set up):
      • Launch wellness clubs: Hold an event to introduce clubs and encourage participation from worker community.
      • Promote activities: Use posters, meetings, and word of mouth to raise awareness and interest.
      • Ensure accessibility: Offer flexible hours and locations to accommodate workers’ shifts.
      • Provide ongoing support: Conduct check-ins, offer training updates, and access external wellness experts.
      • Monitor and evaluate: Create tools to track progress such as feedback surveys, attendance, and health indicators.

  • The budget range for this proposal should be [INR I,42,30,000-1,47,30,000,].
Eligibility Criteria
  • Organizational experience and competencies:
    • The organization must have a minimum 5 years of experience in programme design and implementation.
    • The organization must have a minimum 5 years of experience in training and capacity building.
    • Demonstrated experience of working in agricultural sector, preferably in spice sector.
    • Demonstrated experience of having partnerships with grassroots organizations or worked in the select programme states or similar geographies on the issue of health, safety, wellness with a survivor centric approach.
    • The eligibility of the sub partners identified by the proponent organization for subletting tasks should be in compliance with the TOR and the implementation through sub partners will be sole responsibility of the proponent organization.
    • Demonstrated experience in building safety audit programmes from a gender perspective is an asset.
  • Qualifications and Competencies of Team Leader:
    • The team manager must have minimum 10 years of experience at the National level working with the development and implementation of gender responsive programmes.
    • Minimum 7 years of experience in leading action research, hands-on experience on monitoring/evaluation of projects,
    • Master’s or higher degree in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field is required.
    • Good command over English is a must.
  • Qualifications and Competencies of Team Members:
    • Team members must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in coordinating projects and/or capacity building preferably on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.
    • One of the team members should have demonstrated experience in process documentation.
    • Master’s degree in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field is required.
    • Good command over English is a must.
    • Knowledge of Hindi and Malayalam is an asset.
