They will support the broad category of nonprofit sustainability understanding that the past seven months have affected local organization’s ability to carry out programming and activities and fundraise. Their goal is to have organizations tell what they can do with grant funds and give insight on current community needs.
2020 MCF Impact Grants will:
Cash Grants for NGOs to improve access to justice around the world
Foundation Grants of up to € 100,000 to increase people’s resilience to disasters

Promote organizations that demonstrate financial responsibility and sustainability;
Encourage back-to-basics approach (focus on CORE mission and programs);
Support a “better together” approach (significant collaboration, less duplication of services);
Invest in leadership that demonstrates action during these times;
Support internal organizational innovations or adaptions to “new normal”;
Provide relief for organizations or projects that have not been able to obtain significant COVID-19 funding.
Funding Information
Grant amounts will be from $1,000-$5,000.
For 2020-2021, MCF Grants will be awarded for organizations offering programs or activities benefiting the Montrose community and surrounding area. Due to unusual circumstances facing our community during the past six months, this year’s MCF Grants will focus on recovery and resiliency of their local nonprofits.
Funding Guidelines:

Due to unusual circumstances facing our community during the past six months, this year’s MCF Grants will focus on recovery and resiliency of our local nonprofits.
2020 MCF Impact Grants will:
Promote organizations that demonstrate financial responsibility and sustainability;
Encourage back-to-basics approach (focus on CORE mission and programs);
Support a “better together” approach (significant collaboration, less duplication of services);
Invest in leadership that demonstrates action during these times;
Support internal organizational innovations or adaptions to “new normal”;
Provide relief for organizations or projects that have not been able to obtain significant COVID-19 funding.
The following criteria are used in the evaluation of grant requests:
Proposed project or activity is aligned with the vision and mission of the MCF. See MCF History & Mission.
The organization shows that they have a clear understanding of their mission and an alignment with how their programs/services fill a demonstrated need in our area.
The organization demonstrates that they have taken steps towards sustainability. This can include eliminating or scaling back on programs, revising budgets to show reduced expenses and/or cash flow projections, flexibility for grant funds or donor relations.
The organization demonstrates that they work closely with or their programs include involvement and mutual support from other agencies/organizations within the community – collaboration is highly encouraged.
Financials are complete. Efforts have been made to either revise budgets or come up with ways to find new revenue streams, cut costs or redirect resources.
The organization and/or project/program will serve a group of people that could be considered “at risk”, underserved or the neediest portion of our population.
Note: Underserved meaning a population that currently does not have adequate service(s).
Grant will not fund:
Medical expenses for an individual.
Requests for travel expenses.
College scholarships.
Requests from religious organizations for the sole purpose of furthering that religion.
Requests to support political activities or those designed to influence legislation.
Eligibility Criteria
Organizations should be a registered 501 (c) 3 or have a current fiscal sponsor. If not a 501 (c) 3, please be prepared to describe your charitable or tax exemption status. The MCF can give to an organization that does not have the IRS tax status, but the project MUST be charitable.
