The position is to be filled by January 1, 2020, with an initial contract duration of three years. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. Please note that applications might be forwarded to consortium partners for approval.
From January 2020 onwards Welthungerhilfe will be implementing a programme in a consortium with three other international NGOs. The goal of the programme is to build emergency response capacity for 40 local partner organizations in eight countries. As Programme Coordinator you are responsible for the monitoring of the global implementation of the capacity development interventions in close cooperation with the project countries. Furthermore, you will coordinate the global learning, knowledge management, dissemination and advocacy activities connected to the Localisation Programme.
Your responsibilities
- Ensure contract compliance of the consortium project and coordinate the Programme Management Unit and its operations for international coordination
- Create and operationalise the Programme Steering Committee and Peer Review Mechanism at consortium level
- Report regularly to the Programme Steering Committee and to the line management in Welthungerhilfe
- Establish and operationalize a humanitarian advocacy concept
- Identify and monitor potential programme risks
- Organise workshops / conferences at German and international level to share good practices and innovative approaches of the Localisation Programme
- Establish and operationalise a communication & visibility plan for the Localisation Programme
- Assure communication of results towards humanitarian stakeholders
- Conceptualise and operationalise publications and media products of the Localisation Programme
Your profile
- A university or polytechnic degree in a relevant field
- At least 3 years experience in Humanitarian Assistance
- Experience in project management and in the cooperation/collaboration with local parters in humanitarian contexts
- Experience in networking and capacity strengthening
- Excellent communication skills in German and English, French and Spanish language skills are an advantage
