Methodology
In close collaboration with manager, candidate will engage with counterparts from government, academia, NGOs and private sector (where applicable) to coordinate and ensure timely, high-quality roll-out of the training package material for the 1000 days in target governorates, including the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) in selected hospitals. The consultant will monitor implementation of dissemination plan of nutrition awareness using available IEC materials via nurses, community health workers, social media and traditional media where possible. Together with partners and colleagues, consultant will work on finalizing local solutions that will assist local communities to increase access to and use of diverse, nutritious local foods at the household level. Consultant will assist in scanning implementation areas for possible counterparts for working at scale to ensure community mobilization and sensitization for nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions.
The consultant will work in close coordination with the counterparts to provide technical support to ensure quality implementation of all packages and will plan suitably to ensure capacity-building of middle-level managers. The consultant will participate in regular meetings with partners (MoHP, NGOs and academia) to follow-up implementation. All available sources of data will be used to ensure quality implementation and tracking of nutritional status of target groups. This will include existing data sources, and development of new ones as needed to monitor quality implementation.
The consultant will support in the process of preparation for, and finalization of the nutrition programme documentation including all supporting evidence and data on results, process monitoring and implementation, scaling up, and dissemination.

Key Activities
Oversee the roll-out of the 1000 days training initiative in close coordination with partners, including attending selected trainings, visiting facilities after training to follow-up implementation, and capacity building of middle managers.
Document the Roll out the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative in selected hospitals, and advocate for implementing the BFHI in private and charity hospitals.
Participate in regular meetings with government and NGO counterparts to review implementation and troubleshoot challenges; implement innovative solutions in coordination with government and community partners.
Sensitize community on proper nutrition, including by overseeing partners leveraging their social media and other communication channels.
Leverage partnership and establish coordination with the primary and secondary care sectors of the MoHP, private sector, academia and NGOs in local governorate.
Deliverables:
Monthly progress report including a log of major activities and progress, photo documentation of training sessions and health awareness activities, meeting minutes, monthly indicators, achievements, constraints and recommendations, in relation to project implementation and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AND ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES
 Medical background is a must with a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Medicine/public health/nutrition or health related field. Postgraduate degree in Public Health/nutrition or related field is an asset.
At least 5 years of considerable experience in working with the health care systems including field experience in management of nutrition and/or health programs, including quality control /quality assurance of health programs, data management, verification, and documentation. Experience working with primary health care, and preventative sectors, public health and nutrition programs, is an asset.
Familiarity with MoHP PHC system and services setting.
Experience in health research, data analysis, and nutrition surveillance systems is an asset.
Good knowledge and/or training in maternal, perinatal, child health and nutrition, paediatrics, public health.
Good presentation, communication, and writing skills. Strong analytical skills are an asset.
Past experience working with international organizations or donor supported programs is desirable.
Fluency in both written and spoken Arabic and English is a must.
Familiarity with UNICEF work and with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
 This assignment is field based requiring frequent presence in the field, in the assigned governorate. Reporting and documentation can be done remotely, as per the schedule agreed upon with the supervisor.
Monthly payments upon delivering and accepting monthly progress reports with attached deliverables.
Required field travels related to this assignment will be compensated as per UNICEF policies and Procedures.
