UNHCR France recruits 01 Communication / PI Assistant

Purpose and scope of the Assignement

The Communication / PI Assistant will be supervised by the Snr External Relations Officer.  S/he will have frequent contacts with other colleagues to exchange ideas and information on UNHCR projects suitable for public consumption.

• The study conducted by Purpose in 2017 revealed the critical need for UNHCR to reach to the “anxious middle” groups of population in France through positive communication on refugees in specific media outlets as well as on digital platforms.
• UNHCR communicates directly with journalists and opinion shapers to invite them to cover pressing refugee issues. A strong engagement with the news media needs to be maintained in order to position UNHCR as the leading voice on refugees in France.
• UNHCR France is also targeting young audiences (who could lead tomorrow’s conversation on refugees), such as high-school and college students. Education is indeed a vital aspect of UNHCR’s work and catching up with the latest technologies enables to reach out to the more engaged generation, the Millennials.
• UNHCR continues to work with partners, incl. national authorities, civil society organizations, the private sector, academia, the media etc. across the territory. These partnerships are critical for UNHCR’s impact in the area of protection, public information and external relations, and the organization is keen to expand and further strengthen cooperation with its partners in 2019/20, including in the context of the CRRF, to attain more comprehensive refugee responses.
• In this context, UNHCR France need a PI/ Communication assitant to produce and boost digital content through social media accounts and local website.
