OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSTIn the context of the World Heritage Cities Programme of the Culture sector, and as part of the « Heritage and the city: Promoting sustainable, safe and resilient cities through the protection and conservation of urban cultural and natural heritage in the city » project, a series of activities are being carried out including the launching of the monthly newsletter Urban Notebooks and the creation of an online platform for the collection of good practices are especially linked to this post.
The consultant will provide technical and web support to both.
Work assignmentUnder the immediate supervision of the Deputy Director of the World Heritage Centre, the Contractor will be entrusted with the following tasks related to the project entitled « Heritage and the city: Promoting sustainable, safe and resilient cities through the protection and conservation of urban cultural and natural heritage in the city »:

1) Develop a structure for the newsletter « Urban Notebooks » dedicated to the World Heritage Cities Programme;
 2) Develop a structure for a web platform for good practice examples. The platform will include short and long pieces of text, photos, videos, podcasts, and links to other online websites and materials.
 Deliverables and timeline
For « Urban Notebooks »:
–             1.1 Edit the videos to be included in the upcoming 2 issues, according to the size and format specifications given by the World Heritage Centre (WHC);
–             1.2 Minor graphic modifications of the base format;
–             1.3 Produce a digital version of the newsletter « Urban Notebooks » for web, including working links and document attachments compatible with and to function within the framework and design of the existing WHC website.
For good practice web platform:–             2.1 Design and produce a web platform including a working search engine for the uploaded materials compatible with and to function within the framework and design of the existing WHC website;
–             2.2 Periodic updates of the web platform with new pieces of information;
–             2.3 Edit the videos to be included in the web platform according to the size and format specifications given by the WHC.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and experience:Master’s degree
 in website/graphic design or a related field.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the field
            Skills and competencies:Professional-level web design skills (Dreamweaver / HTML / WordPress)
Strong proficiency in graphic design software (InDesign / Photoshop / Illustrator)Highly proficient in image and video editingCreativityTime-management skills
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience with Cold Fusion
Working experience in the United Nations System and the World Heritage Centre
Very good fluency in both English and French
