OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
 Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations (ADG/PAX), the overall supervision and guidance of the Director of the Division of Priority Africa Coordination (DIR/PAX/AFR), and the  direct supervision of the Head of the Unit for Relations with African Member States and Partnerships (PAX/AFR/ASP), the incumbent shall assist in the coordination of the programmes, projects and activities of the Unit for Relations with African Member States and Partnerships by providing administrative services, in compliance with the UNESCO rules and regulations, with a special focus on African Member States, and public and private partnerships under the Operational Strategy for Priority Africa.
Within the framework of the Operational Strategy for Priority Africa, the incumbent shall assist the Head of the Unit in the administrative coordination of programmes and projects, especially those funded by private partners, and undertake the following activities:
Liaise with UNESCO administration and Field Offices in Africa, and gather all requested documents for the preparation of contracts and establishment of project activities;
Finalize project agreements on the basis of the drafts prepared by the senior members of the team;
Contribute to the effective and timely follow-up of the programme activities; monitor deadlines for collection of information, and documentation for required reporting;
Provide any other administrative support required by the Unit for Relations with African Member States and Partnerships.
The incumbent shall also provide other administrative support to the Unit, by undertaking the following activities:
Assist in drafting correspondence and memos;
Contribute to the creation and follow-up of contracts;
Assist in organizing meetings and travel as necessary for the Unit.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Completed secondary, technical or vocational education.
Work Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience in administrative/programme assistance in an international environment.
Skills & Competencies
Good interpersonal skills and communication skills, including ability to draft correspondence and correct documents.
Good organisational and coordination skills.
Ability to work under pressure and flexibility to adjust work schedules and priorities.
Ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds.
Excellent knowledge of IT skills (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook…).
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English or French (written and spoken) and very good knowledge of the other working language.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Specialized training in administration, accounting, and/or commerce.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of UNESCO’s rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of UNESCO’s business applications/systems/tools (FABS, SISTER, SAP, DUO, etc.).
Languages
Knowledge of other official UNESCO languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish).
