U.S. Mission to India seeking Proposals for Civic Engagement and Constitutional Rights

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad (PAS Hyderabad) is seeking proposals for a project entitled “Civic Engagement and Constitutional Rights: Comparing the U.S. and Indian Constitutions”.
PAS Hyderabad supports initiatives that develop the skills of Indian youth through leadership training and experiential learning while providing opportunities to connect American experts with Indian audiences. These projects, besides improving institutional linkages between American and Indian organizations, empower local youth to emerge as well-informed and socially-invested citizen-leaders.
To train 150 young women and men across the three states and ensure that they understand the rights guaranteed under the Indian constitution as well as the shared tradition of constitutional democracy in the United States and India and facilitate them to emerge as proactive, conscious community leaders.
Program Goals
- Reinforce their shared values by broadening the relationships between their governments and citizens to deepen trust and create new opportunities for their people to experience the tangible benefits of their partnership.
- Engage and convince 150 university students to know and understand their own constitution, and use it. Constitutional rights require citizen awareness and actual application to work in society. This program aims to celebrate the powerful and shared tradition of constitutional democracy in both the United States and India.
Funding Information
- Award Ceiling: $25,000
- Award Floor: $20,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations. Individuals are not eligible for an award under this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).
- Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
