Solidarités International recruits 01 LOGISTICIAN
Desired start date: 15/05/2019
ABOUT THE MISSION IN SYRIA
SI has been working in Syria since 2012 and currently has strong coverage for WASH, FSL and NFI programs across North West (NWS) and North East Syria (NES). The NES programs provide an integrated assistance in the WASH, NFI, Shelter and Livelihoods sectors to displaced populations and host communities affected by the conflict. NWS programs are remotely managed and provide WASH and NFI/Winterization support to affected populations. Since 2016, SI has been partnering with a local health partner to develop and strengthen a WASH-and-Health integrated approach, and is currently developing the streamlining of Protection within its existing programs. The mission is expanding through a major consortium with 4 partners led by SI, which started in October 2018. The LEARN consortium funded by OFDA ( Linking Assistance and Relief in Northeast Syria ) will support equitable and safe access to essential basic services including WASH, Shelter and Health, for the most vulnerable populations affected by conflict and displacement in Northeast Syria. The Syria mission counts about 300 national staff, more than 60 expatriates, and has a 25 million USD budget forecasted for 2019.
ABOUT THE JOB
SI is looking for a Logistician, based in Northeast Syria. With a presence of more than 1 year and a half on the ground in Northeast Syria, SI has been recently expanding its programmatic portfolio, notably in relation with the start of the LEARN. Activities currently comprise projects in WASH, Shelter, Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) as well as Cash & Vouchers. This rise in operational volume has thus created an additional pressure on the logistics department at coordination and base level, with activities (NFI distribution, water network rehabilitation notably) generating an important workload in terms of supply. Under the Field Coordinator’s overall guidance, the Logistician will directly manage an Assistant, an Officer and a Logistics Support, with a department comprised of 25 staffs. The overall volume on the ground is 9 expatriates and about 90 national staffs. General objectives

SI WILL OFFER YOU
A salaried post: according to experience from 2420 euros gross per month (2178 € + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly per diem of 700 USD a month.
Vacation: during the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of one break every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 10-day break during the 3rd and the 9th month (with 750 USD allocated by Solidarités). He or she will also be entitled to go back to his or her home country for a 14-day period after six months spent on the mission (Solidarités will cover travel costs).
Social and medical cover: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
The candidate will be based in North East Syria, and accommodated in SI guesthouses. Whilst this area can be considered quite stable at the moment, it can deteriorate quickly. There are clearly specific safety and security protocols to be followed, managed by the Field Coordinator in collaboration with the Country Director. Mine and UXO risks remain very high. In Erbil (Iraq) where there may be occasional travel to access NES, security levels are good, restrictions are mainly related to obtaining visas for international staff, which can take some weeks.
