Overview of position
The Project Accountant will be part of the Country Finance team, this role involves Coordinating high level financial accounting and budget tracking duties in consultation with the Project Manager/s and Country Finance Manager.
Job Description
Key responsibilities
Prepare monthly Project financial reports  in line with international best practices, and donor agreements
Support the Project Managers and Finance Manager in the preparation of Project depletion report and financial forecasts ensuring accuracy in budget monitoring
Prepare and monitor monthly Project liquidity requests
Responsible for ensuring control, monitoring and execution of all Project financial transactions, budgeting, administration and planning and control
Responsible for month end closure processes ensuring that monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and bank accounts is carried out in compliance with SNV Financial procedures taking the lead in the reconciliation of receipts, payments and other relevant control accounts.
Ensure timely production of Project reports and accounting information.
Ensure that SNV Internal Control Frame is followed in all Project financial transactions
Review all project invoices and confirm accuracy before processing payments
Participate in project asset management ensuring timely recording and monitoring of all Project  Fixed Assets
Participate in the internal and external audit process
Qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field;
Professional accounting qualifications up to final level;
At least 3 years relevant working experience in a project organisation, experience within an international organisation is an advantage;
At least 3 years relevant working experience in financial accounting of which 2 years in project accounting;
Excellent communication and organization skills;
Fluency in English is required
Experience with SAP (SAP by Design; SAP R3 or other), though not mandatory, will be an advantage;
Pro-active and supportive team player.
