CHILDREN ON THE MOVE SPECIALIST (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL)
The OpportunityThe Children on the Move Specialist will work closely with the in-country programme managers and technical advisors, as well as members of the Technical Advisory Group (regional/central advisors), to support the rollout of the EAMR foundational activities and set up of direct service provision in communities. It is of pivotal importance to ensure that a joint vision is shared among teams, as well as programmatic approaches and standards are harmonised from the very start. S/he will also be engaging with external consultants as needed and will ensure that best practices and learnings are taken into account when developing and adjusting program modalities to the specific contexts.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
EssentialMSc/MA/MEng level in Social Work, Social Policy, Human Rights and Refugee Law, International Relations, Development Studies, or equivalent field experience
Minimum of eight years’ experience and demonstrated practical skills in developing and setting up program for children in migration/displacement settingsDemonstrated knowledge and experience with major child protection themes, key international standards and guidelines related to child protection, in particular case management and alternative care arrangements for vulnerable groups of childrenKnowledge of inter-agency child protection standards and guidelines, such as the Inter-Agency Guidelines on the Paris Principles, Save the Children’s Child Friendly Spaces Handbook, Separated and Unaccompanied Children, Alternative care, and the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian SettingsAbility to identify child protection needs and develop a holistic response for children on the moveExperience in developing and refining innovative and proven models of support for vulnerable and/or hard-to-reach populations tailored to specific contextsExperience in designing and delivering capacity building trainings in the field of child protectionExcellent reporting and managerial skillsPolitically and culturally sensitive with a strong set of skills related to patience, tact and diplomacyProficiency in written and spoken EnglishThe capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and embracing changeCommitment to, and understanding of, child rights, the values and principles of Save the Children and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of ConductA flexible and initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritise an unpredictable workload
Desired:Previous experience with SDC-funded programs
Solid knowledge regarding refugee, asylum seeking and migrant children related topicsExperience with remote managementPrevious experience in the East Africa regionFluency in Arabic would be an advantageWe offer a competitive package in the context of the sector, this role is offered on the basis of national terms and conditions only.
