Safe Passage recruits 01 Caseworker

CASEWORKER – NORTH OF FRANCE

  • Do you want to join a ground-breaking, determined and compassionate charity that is leading the fight for child refugees caught in limbo in Europe and elsewhere?
  • Do you have experience of managing casework for unaccompanied children in France seeking protection and family reunification?

Safe Passage is recruiting a Caseworker for the North of France.

This is an important opportunity for a compassionate, determined and proactive Caseworker to join Safe Passage France. The successful candidate will manage (identify, assess, and follow up) individual cases of protection and family reunification, whilst creating referral pathways in the North of France and the surrounding areas. They will ensure that unaccompanied minors and people in vulnerable circumstances can access safe and legal routes to sanctuary. This is a cross-border role, requiring strong teamwork with colleagues based in Paris, Athens and London.

We are looking for someone who has the capacity to manage casework and therefore working relationships with grassroots actors, French protection service providers, legal representatives, and local authorities. Exceptional professionalism, compassion and integrity, as well as a clear understanding of safeguarding are paramount. You will be a member of our fast-paced team in France and expected to play a proactive role seeking campaign opportunities, as well as display self-motivation and initiative. Foreign language skills would be an advantage but are not essential.

We are ground-breaking, determined and compassionate. Committed to opening and defending safe, legal routes to people seeking sanctuary, particularly children. We enjoy creativity, imagination, challenge and a good sense of humour and work hard to deliver excellence for all our partners: clients, donors, and other strategic partners. We look for talented, passionate souls to join our team and take us further.

Safe Passage grew out of the urgent need for child refugees to access their legal right to reach a place of safety. From the initial aim of helping children in Calais to reach the UK in 2015, Safe Passage now has teams in Greece, France and the UK. We work to open and strengthen safe and legal routes to protection for refugee children, and then support their first steps to rebuilding their lives. Since we started work in 2015, we have directly helped 200 child refugees to safety and more than 1,800 children have travelled through the safe and legal routes we have helped open. Safe Passage is registered in France as an “association loi 1901”.

Salary: 29,000 euros (can be discussed, depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time (can be discussed)

Reporting to: Head of Safe Passage in France
