Opportunity
The purpose of this role is to:• The efficient and accurate submission and recording of Customs Clearances, correspondence and applications in accordance with all relevant SOP and IOP requirements and deadlines.• To ensure that Maersk Logistics & Services, South Africa and its clients comply with all said Acts, Rules & Regulations set out by all Regulatory Departments that control the import, export and removal of both foreign and locally manufactured goods.We offerWe offer an exciting and attractive career, in an ambitious and competitive environment with the possibility of continuous professional and personal development.In operations we have a fast-paced job where every day offers new challenges. Key responsibilities• Framing, checking and processing of all types of Import, Export & Transit bills of entries.• Framing, checking and processing of all other types of documents such as but not limited to i.e. – DA63, DA 66, VOC’s, CR1, DA68, DA70, liquidations , substitutions, etc.• Familiar with Trade agreements (SACUM-UK, SACU-E EPA, RSA-EU TDCA, AGOA, EFTA SACU, MERCOSOR SACU, AFCFTA, GSP).• Customs tariff classifications / determinations.• Familiar with Customs Valuations & Customs Legislation (Act and the rules).• Familiar with Customs Stops/Detentions & Examinations (CBCU, Import team, TIU, Scanner unit and External services).• Confirming of Customs related details and data to ensure correct clearances.• Checking and sending cash payment requests.• Ensuring that files are always in a neat and orderly state in line with the IOP.• Updating staff and clients of new developments and notices regarding our Industry (Particularly but not limited to Customs Clearance).• Updating all Customs related registers (Stops / PP / Refunds / Entries / Rejections/ Cargo Due, etc).• Saving all literature, documents and correspondence to relevant folders including CargoWise One eDocs.• Ensuring that all CHB functions are completed timeously and accurately.• Ensure effective implementation of policies, guidelines, processes and best practices into CHB, as required.• Work with other departments to ensure there is a well-established and mature communication line with Customs and affiliated parties within South Africa.
We are looking for• Min 3 years’ experience in Clearing and Forwarding Industry• Grade 12 (Matric) & Logistics / Freight Forwarding & Clearing Certificate• SDS Clearing Part II certificate (Advanced clearing) or Equivalent• Computer skills – Excel, OneNote, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, etc. (beneficial)• Having Cargowise One experience is a benefit• Good communication skills• Passion for the industry
