As the Central West Africa Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial/selling activities covering the West Africa countries of Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Niger, and Burkina Faso. Reporting to the Area Managing Director, you will be an integral part of the Area Leadership team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Guide and set strategic direction for the Area sales team – both on delivering ocean and L&S volume and growing revenue and optimizing profits

Coach and drive sales team to sell and grow ocean and non-ocean activities including supply chain and local products

Define and set targets for sales incentives together with Finance teams

Actively monitor local customer satisfaction across segments and drive local improvements

Lead transformation from the front according to overall company strategy

Ensure best practice sharing across teams

Manage cross-functional relationships and actively provide input to product teams on product value proposition

Ensure succession plans are in place for key roles including own role

Coach direct reports for success and development

Manage local engagement

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

10 years’ sales management and general management experience

Demonstrated proficiency in using data to drive business results

Proven track record in commercialization of landside services (mainly intermodal, supply chain management, customs house brokerage, warehousing and depot services).

Understanding and having an interest in global trade, local and international market landscape as well as industry trends.

Strong commercial mindset and networking skills

Inspirational and ambitious leader with a high level of energy.

Having the ability to guide and coach teams in an engaging and motivating environment

Good stakeholder management skills

Proven ability to work as a change agent and challenge the status quo

Ability to influence without authority in a global organization

Proactivity: Suggest solutions and process improvements

Team player: Teamwork across functions and geographies
