Handicap International is changing his name and becomes « Humanity & Inclusion ». HI, Humanity & Inclusion is an independent and impartial aid and development organisation with no religious or political affiliations operating in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. We work alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable people to help meet their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.

Since the organisation was first founded in 1982, we have set up development programmes in 62 countries and responded to many emergencies. Today we have a budget of around 150 million euros, with 3500 employees worldwide.

CONTEXT:

The Prevention and Health direction aims to make sure that the SDG 3 “Ensure healthy lives and promote wellbeing for all at all ages” can become a reality for people with disability and vulnerable populations all along the various Nexus contexts. We focus on prevention of preventable impairments and disability inclusive health, and we work more specifically on road Safety and Safe Mobility (1 specialist) , Mental Health and Psycho social support ( 4 specialists), Non communicable diseases ( 1 specialist) , Sexual and Reproductive health , including Family planning, HIV, Maternal , newborn and child health ( 2 specialists) and Disability Inclusive Policies   ( 1 Lead).

We work in close collaboration with the other technical directions, namely Rehabilitation, Protection and Social&Inclusion, as well as with the 5 geographic directions.

 

ACTIVITIES:

HI is a leading actor in Disability Inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Right and is currently one of only a few international NGOs fighting and advocating to push disability inclusion in the Sexual and Reproductive health and right agenda.  We focus on prevention of preventable impairments linked with SRHR and MNCH, on equity in access to health services and on disability inclusive health programming.

Hi is looking for a dynamic and motivate disability inclusive SRHR expert to provide technical support to the SRHR project portfolio with special focus to the Women’s Integrated Sexual Health” (WISH2ACTION) project. It is the DFID flagship health programme aiming to transform the lives of millions of women and girls. It provides integrated and holistic healthcare to 2.2m additional users of contraception across 16 countries in Africa and South Asia from 2018-2021.

Through a consortium of five internationally recognised organizations, WISH2ACTION programme provides a comprehensive, integrated approach to ensure equitable access to family planning and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The programme prioritises the most underserved women and girls, particularly youth under 20, the very poor, and marginalized populations (including people with disability, people displaced or affected by humanitarian crisis, and people living in hard-to-reach areas).

PROFILE SOUGHT:

    • Master Degree in Public health
    • Proficient in Disability Inclusion and Right Approach
    • At least 5 years of experience on sexual and reproductive health and right in low and middle income settings (LMIC)
    • Excellent and proven familiarity with the SRHR international context, with deep technical understanding of the main stakes of the disability inclusion
    • Experience with implementation of complex, big financial volume ,multi-stakeholders projects
    • Experience in remote technical support
    • Excellent strategic and analytic thinking
    • Good synthesis & writing skills
    • English & French speaker (Spanish is optional)
