HI is an international NGO founded in 1982, with Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Adaptation to Climate Change (ACC) as one of its pillars of intervention. The sector has been active for some twenty years and is currently growing, with a particular focus on strengthening our actions in the field of climate resilience for marginalized populations. Our uniqueness lies in our expertise in developing and promoting inclusive and intersectional approaches to risk management throughout the DRR cycle (prevention, mitigation, preparedness and early response), with a particular focus on the participation of people with disabilities. Today, HI operates in nearly 60 countries, with DRR-ACC projects in some 15 countries across Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
