CONTEXT:

Humanity & Inclusion (Handicap International-HI) is looking for an enthusiastic trainee to assist the advocacy team in Paris, with a focus on specific crisis and issues pertaining to Humanitarian Action and Disarmament.

You will join the Federal Advocacy and Institutional Relations (AIR) at HI office in Paris. This unit coordinates, organizes, manages and implements the activities related to advocacy for HI network. You will work under the under the supervision of the Humanitarian advocacy Manager, and in close collaboration with the other members of the Advocacy team members, specifically the disarmament and protection of civilians team. Throughout the traineeship, you will be given opportunity to experiment varied tasks, and be given regular feedback on your performance to help you improve your professional skills in the field of advocacy.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE INTERNSHIP:

You will support the advocacy team in Paris:

    • Mapping of stakeholders (especially the European Union and the position of different states on the crisis HI is working on)
    • Desk research on relevant thematics (Protection of civilians, disarmament, humanitarian access, counter terrorism measures etc…) and on geopolitical context and crisis resolution mechanisms
    • Identify policy processes in link with the crisis HI is advocating on and update relevant calendars
    • Support the production of advocacy related documents and materials (factsheets, statement, collection of data, lobby letter, policy papers etc…) in link with the field teams
    • Translation and editing of documents

Expériences / Formation du candidat You have training in international relations and/or political sciences

You have very good writing skills in French and English

You are dynamic, self-organized and rigourous

You are comfortable working in a multicultural environment,

You have an interest in the disarmament and humanitarian action sector.

You are proficient user of Microsoft Office package

Salaire / Indemnité You will receive:

  • A monthly indemnity of €577,50
  • Luncheon vouchers with a face value of €8.96 (60% paid by HI, 40% by you)

An internship contract issued by a French teaching or training establishment is mandatory. This internship is not suitable for people on sandwich courses.
