Handicap International recruits 01 Project Manager
HI PRESENTATION: Outraged by the injustice faced by people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, we aspire to a world of solidarity and inclusion, enriched by our differences, where everyone can live in dignity. HI has offices in more than 55 countries. For more information about the organisation: http://www.handicap-international.org MISSION CONTEXT: HI is managing a large humanitarian program from three different hubs (Centre, North and North-East), along four main pillars: 1. Support to health partners (hospitals, care houses, psychosocial support centers, local NGOs) for the provision of comprehensive psychosocial support services ( psychosocial support, psychosocial support and/or prosthetics and orthotics) through training, technical supervisions and donations of assistive devices and/or equipment; 2. Emergency response to the basic needs of vulnerable people affected by sudden crisis, through one-shot distributions of food baskets, household essential items and hygiene kits, and through the management of an adapted humanitarian coordination mechanism for emergency responses. 3. Education to the risks and effects caused by conventional weapons (including mines, explosive remnants of war and small arms light weapons) and urgent marking of hazardous areas; 4. Training and technical support to other humanitarian actors on the inclusion of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable persons in the humanitarian response (with a special focus on inclusive health and inclusive livelihoods). The actual intervention is based on a mix of remote management of national teams, remote partnerships with local structures and organizations, and direct implementation programs. Operations from Beirut hub are being carried out through remote management and mainly consist of the provision of technical and organizational support to HI strategic partners. Permanent contact with partners is established in order to follow up on programmatic and technical aspects, as well as logistic and financial organization of the interventions. Main challenges are to ensure both high quality responses via the improvement of partners’ technical capacities and compliance with internal and donor standards and procedures through training and implementation of appropriate follow-up tools and mechanisms. JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the responsability of the Area Coordinator, the Project Manager is responsible for the management of health, inclusion, mine action and livelihood activities in the intervention areas. In the Beirut Hub, all interventions are done through remote management of partners. The Project Manager is expected to provide close support and guidance to partner’ teams for the quality implementation of activities and the compliance with HI and donor’s procedures. MAIN RESPONSABILITIES: 1/Project implementation and monitoring The complete job description will be shared with the short-listed candidates. SPECIFICITIES: Despite the different conflicts affecting the overall Middle East region and the Syrian refugee crisis affecting particularly the country, the security in Lebanon is still fairly good. Some movement restrictions apply in some parts of the country, but these areas are clearly identified. In Beirut, living conditions are good. Many medical facilities are available and there is quite an important range of entertainment facilities (restaurants, cafés, and leisure parks).
